Call to Order President Krause called the meeting to order at 6:30pm B. Roll Call Present: 5- Boardmember Borey Boardmember Wine Boardmember Krause Boardmember Hall Boardmember Kruser Excused: 2- Boardmember Walters Boardmember Rajski C. Acceptance of Agenda Boardmember Kruser moved to accept the agenda as presented.Boardmember Borey seconded the motion. Yes 5- Boardmember Borey, Boardmember Wine, Boardmember Krause,Boardmember Hall,and Boardmember Kruser No 0 Excused 2- Boardmember Walters,and Boardmember Rajski D. Acceptance of Minutes for April 14, 2022 Regular Meeting and June 23, 2022 Special Meeting. Secretary Wine made a motion to accept the minutes as presented.Vice-President Hall seconded the motion. Yes 5- Boardmember Borey, Boardmember Wine, Boardmember Krause,Boardmember Hall,and Boardmember Kruser No 0 Excused 2- Boardmember Walters,and Boardmember Rajski E. Call to the Public None F. Correspondence and Communications Director Harrison reported that the library received a donation check in the amount of$20,000 from the Glenn Perkins Educational Foundation. We have received this donation in the past City of Apache Junction,Arizona page 1 Library Board Meeting Minutes August 11,2022 several years and are grateful to have received it again this year.A letter from Mayor, Chip Wilson to Amy Wells, Trust Officer of the Glenn Perkins Educational Foundation was sent out as a thank you for this donation. G. Librarian's Report Director Harrison discussed the June monthly report and upcoming events. Grant funds have been received from the Arizona State Library to begin work on the mobile library. Shelving will be ordered and installed as soon as possible. Library staff has met with the Parks& Recreation department and will collaborate to promote each other and get the word out about services and events. Library fall programming events will be added to the upcoming Parks& Recreation brochure.A QR code to the library event bi-weekly newsletter has been added to our monthly calendar and a QR code to our weekly Wowbrary e-newsletter is now in the patron brochure that all new cardholders receive. At the last meeting Vice-President, Cheryl Hall suggested interacting with patrons through a link or with a one question survey on the website. Director Harrison has passed that information on to the website team and they are working on formatting within the website software. Director Harrison also reviewed goals and strategies for the library strategic plan including timelines to complete those goals. H. Old Business None I. New Business 1. 22-482 Discussion and possible vote on updates to library policies and procedures. Director Harrison reviewed the Materials Selection Policy. Some sections within the policy have become antiquated or obsolete. Some sections have been marked for removal and some additions have also been made. The goal is to make the document more basic and concise. Vice President Cheryl Hall suggested that 1 b. of the materials selection policy refer to everyone as it is identified in the circulation policy. The Library Board would like to take some more time to review changes to the policy. 2. 22-484 Discussion on patron survey results. Director Harrison provided a summary of the public survey results. J. Requests for Future Agenda Items Review of material selection policy changes. Discussion of Library Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read Statement. K.
