G. Librarian's Report
Director Harrison reviewed the monthly statistics for August, September, and October,
alongside a summary of key programs held during that time. National Friends of the Library
Week, celebrated from October 20-26, was highlighted with social media spotlights. These
included a"behind-the-scenes" look at the Friends of the Library process, showcasing how
donations are received, sorted, and organized. We appreciate the invaluable support provided
by the Friends of the Library, whose contributions greatly enhance our efforts.
Director Harrison also addressed upcoming restroom renovations near the bookstore.
Demolition of the adult restrooms is scheduled to begin on December 9th, with renovations in
the children's area proceeding beforehand. Due to the construction, the library will host an
"all-staff'development day on December 10th, during which the library will be closed. As

previously discussed, the library was awarded a$3,000 express grant from the Arizona State
Library. These funds will support staff training, led by Maricopa Corporate College, on topics of
diversity, equity, inclusion, team building, and establishing core library values. An additional
workshop will focus on compassion fatigue. Staff will enjoy lunch on this day, participate in a
"stuff-a-plushy"activity similar to a"build-a-bear"experience, and engage in a hosted "Family
Feud"game.
Looking ahead, preparations for a new strategic plan are on the horizon. The current plan, set to
conclude in June 2025, will be updated to outline library goals for the subsequent three years.
This initiative will also involve refreshing the library's mission and vision statements to better
align with future objectives.
