President Borey called the meeting to order at 6:30pm

C. Acceptance of Agenda
This was accepted
Board Member Bigelow moved to accept the agenda as presented. Board Member Meek
seconded the motion.
D. Acceptance of Minutes for November 14, 2024 Regular Meeting
This was accepted
Secretary Fitzgerald moved to accept the minutes as presented. Board Member Meek
seconded the motion.

F. Correspondence and Communications
None.
G. Librarian's Report
Director Harrison reviewed the monthly statistics for November and December 2024 and
discussed some of the programs held during the holiday season. Also discussed were the
library's home delivery service and the books-by-mail process. Statistical data comparison
charts were reviewed for the calendar year 2023/2024. Board Member Bigelow requested that a
3-year span of statistical data be reviewed for this time next year.
Renovations have been completed for the public restrooms near the Friends of the Library

bookstore and for the youth bathrooms.AARP Foundation Tax Aide appointments begin
February 5. Staff Development Day was a great success. The Maricopa County Corporate
College provided a 3 hour training session on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as
resiliency. Staff explored and established the library's core values in addition to revising the
current mission statement to be implemented in next year's strategic plan. The afternoon
session titled "Compassion Fatigue,"was conducted by the city's Employee Assistance
Program provider. Staff also participated in engaging activities, such as"Stuff a Plush."
Director Harrison provided an overview of the Library Reading Garden design.The garden will
span approximately 5,000 square feet and will be fully fenced, with access available only from
within the library. It is designed to preserve views of the Superstition Mountains and will feature a
seed library demonstration garden, an amphitheater, shaded reading areas, paved walkways,
dark-sky lighting, irrigation, and drought-tolerant plants. The project is scheduled to begin in
February.
Director Harrison led a walk-through of the registration process for library events.

1. 24-992 Discussion on promotion of library services and public registration process for
upcoming events.
Director Harrison reviewed the library's current promotions and advertising tools. Board Member
Fitzgerald suggested adding programs that we know have not had great attendance in the past
to the FaceBook events. An email of the current promotions and advertising tools presented
during the meeting will be sent to the board on Monday for their review and to allow for any
feedback.
J. Requests for Future Agenda Items
President Borey suggested doing "meet and greets"with the staff and patrons.
K. Adjournment
President Borey adjourned the meeting at 7:20.
