Thursday,June 12,2025 6:30 PM City Council Chambers A. Call to Order Vice-President Barker called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm B. Librarian's Report Director Harrison began with a brief overview of the May statistics and provided an update on recent library programming. She also shared progress on the Library Reading Garden design, which now City of Apache Junction,Arizona Pagel Library Board Special Meeting Meeting Minutes June 12,2025 includes a new storage and seed shed, potting bench, greenhouse, solar-powered bench with charging capabilities, and newly added seat walls at the amphitheater. She presented a map of Radiance at Superstition Vistas, which is entering the master planning and design phase for the city's South Campus. Planned developments in that area include a police substation, a branch library, a park, and a lake-located near Ironwood and Warner roads. An update was also given on the current status of the Summer Reading Program.Additional facility improvements include the replacement of the Media Bank with a new walk-up book drop, as well as updated lighting in both the Goldfield and Opal rooms. H. Old Business None. I. New Business 1. 25-269 Discussion and possible vote for approval of the Apache Junction Public Library Board of Trustees 2024/2025 Annual Report. This New Business was approved Yes 6- Vice President Barker, Secretary Fitzgerald, Boardmember Walters, Boardmember Bigelow, Boardmember Meek, and Boardmember Perkins No 0 Excused 1 - President Borey 2. 25-270 Apache Junction Public Library Strategic Plan 2022-2025 Summary Report. Director Harrison provided an overview of the library's history and its role as part of the Pinal County Library District. She emphasized the library's commitment to continuous improvement and noted that our successful recovery from the challenges of COVID-19 was due in large part to having a clear, active strategic plan. She highlighted key accomplishments over the past three years, including the launch of the mobile library with new interior shelving, and strengthening partnerships with local schools. These efforts include attending staff meetings, presenting at back-to-school events, and providing monthly bookmobile visits to the high school. Efforts to enhance staff development have included reworking staff meetings and trainings to ensure alignment across the team. We're also leveraging circulation and collection data to make more intentional, informed decisions about our acquisitions. We have also been gathering program feedback to better understand and respond to community interests. To improve the use of library space,we've reorganized collections for better access and created a dedicated teen lounge, separate from the tech-focused teen area. In February, we began preparing for our next strategic plan, set to launch in July. Our goals and strategies have been mapped out and will be presented at a future meeting. Select staff will be engaged in helping us achieve these objectives as we move into the next phase of our development. J. Requests for Future Agenda Items None.
