HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980 10-07 Library MinutesMINUTES LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA REGULAR MEETING October 7, 1980 A Regular Meeting of the Library Board of Trustees was held on October 7,1980, at the Apache Junction City Hall, pursuant to notice as required by law. CALL TO ORDER Mrs. Eleanor Lewis, President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. at the Apache Junction City Hall. ROLL CALL Those present:Eleanor Lewis, President Jan Hiller, Secretary Elizabeth Burks Lillian Castro Donald Taylor Those absent:Hazel Eldridge ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA Time for legal steps be- tween the City and the current Library Association to be signed.Motion made to accept agenda by Lillian Castro, and seconded by Elizabeth Burks. Motion carried unanimously. ACCEPTANCE OF THE MINUTES Minutes of the regular meeting of August 5, 1980, regular meeting of September 2, 1980, and special meeting September 18, 1980 were read. Motion to accept the minutes of the two regular meetip was made by Elizabeth Burks and seconded by Lillian Castro.A motion was made to accept the minutes of the special meeting by Donald Taylor and seconded by Elizabeth Burks.Motions carried unanimously. REPORTS none UNFINISHED BUSINESS Trustees have received no material to date from Final County Library.Mrs. Burks will contact Sandra Nelson and report at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS A state level library work- shop is to be held at Fiesta Inn in Tempe on October 24 and 25, 1980.Donald Taylor and Elizabeth Burks plan to attend one session a day. A motion was made by Jan Hiller to request Mary Fitzgibbon to head the Friends of the Library.Mrs. Fitzgibbon is a teacher in Superior, Az. Motion was seconded by Lillian Castro.Motion carried unanimously. It was suggested a letter be sent to the present Library Association (Ms. Opal Hansen) with copy. to Martinez, Curtis 6,Goodwin.Also to enclose a copy of letter dated 0 -17-8n regarding donation of library to the City, and to arrange a meeting with members of the Library Association and the City Attorney and City Clerk in attendance.Have present Library Association contact Library Trustee president and suggest a proposed date for the meeting. page 2 A motion was made by Lillian Castro to accept a cover letter to Library Assoication, including letter from City Attorney regarding library trans- fer and needed information to complete same.Motion was seconded by Elizabeth Burks.Motion carried unanimously. A motion was made by Elizabeth Burks to adjourn, and seconded by Donald Taylor. APPROVED.:
