REGULAR MEETING
April 6,1982
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of
Trustees was held on April 6, 1982 at 7:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction
Public Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law.

LIBRARIAN REPORT:
The meeting was called to order by
Hazel Eldridge, president.
A motion was made by Margaret Carlin
to accept the minutes of the March 2,
1982 regular meeting as presented.
Motion seconded by Eleanor Lewis and
passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Jan Hiller to
accept the minutes of the March 11,
1982 Special Meeting as presented.
Motion seconded by Margaret Carlin,
which passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Eleanor Lewis to
accept the minutes of the March 18,
1982 Special Meeting as presented.
Motion seconded by Margaret Carlin and
passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Margaret Carlin
to accept the minutes of the March 31,
1982 Special Meeting with the following
amendment:contractural services to
be $4,190.00.Amended motion was
seconded by Jan Hiller, and passed
unanimously.
Weeding and census nearly completed.
At the 600's in the non-fiction section.
Should be completed by May 4th.
Librarian attended a meeting on 3-25-
82 with Pinal County Federation
Affiliate libraries of Pinal County.
The purpose of this meeting was to
share problems, communicate library
needs to the County, and to serve as
an advocate to the County Board of
Supervisors.Next meeting is April 8

OLD BUSINESS:
at 9:30 a.m. at Casa Grande.
First organizational meeting was held
on March 25, 1982.Eleanor Lewis and
Margaret Carlin attended to assist in
organization and set-up.Alice
Johnston acted as temporary chair-
person.Other members of Friends of
the Library include:Mildred Anderson
Barbara Saggio, Peggy Baljo, Jean and
Ernie Perkins, Catherine Stirr, Jane
Vieliher, Darlene Williams, Gordon and
Barbara Bezark.
A discussion of the ribbon cutting
ceremony for the formal dedication of
the library to be held on April 20,
1982 at 2:00 p.m.
Library Job Description:It was agreed
to accept the proposed job description
as written with the exception of the
last sentence to be amended to delete
(a small).Motion made by Margaret
Carlin, seconded by Eleanor Lewis, and
carried unanimougly.
Librarian Salary:A 37, salary increase
deemed necessary.Negotiate with City
for an increase from $12,000 a year
to $14,400 as a mean figure.Motion
made by Eleanor Lewis, seconded by
Margaret Carlin, and passed unanimously
as amended.
NEW BUSINESS:Set up card catalogue.Purchase .new
card sets.
Salary:Part time clerk: 36 hours a
week at $4.20 per hour or an $8,000
salary.
Library Burden:$1,998.00 Outdoor
sign: $200.00 Motion made by.Margaret
Carlin, seconded by Eleanor Lewis, and
passed unanimously.

Recheck Budget:Capital Outlay $4,200.
Motion to adjourn made by Eleanor Lewis
and seconded by Margaret Carlin.Motion
passed unanimously.

I do not wish to continue as Librarian I, Acting Library
Director permanently.I request that the Library Board of
Trustees hire a permanent replacement by June 30, 1982.
However, I am interested in a permanent part-time position.
