April 5, 1983
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees
was held April 5, 1983 at 7:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to
notice as prescribed by law.

BOARD DISCUSSION:

A motion was made by Hazel Eldridge,
to accept the agenda as presented.The
motion was seconded by Don Taylor, and
passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Jan Hiller to accept
the minutes of January 26, 1983 -Workshop
Session; February 1, 1983 -Regular Meeting
and March 1, 1983 -Regular meeting, The
motion was seconded by Eleanor Lewis, and
passed unanimously.
Pamela Glowka, the librarian reported that
more children are using the Library.Lions
Club donated shelves for the Braille books.
She will speak to a first grade class about
the use of Braille.She has been busy witl
the budget.April 17th through the 23rd
National Library Week.The City Council
members have been invited to staff the
Library (Mayor Clarke and Marie Shanks havE
accepted).The Library has applied for a
free polaroid camera through promotion
sponsored by Polaroid Corporation (This
camera may also be used by the public).
Pinal County gave the Library $233.00 to
be spent for magazines.Mr. C.L. Peterson
will speak to Friends of the Library on
April 18th.The Price of the outside light
was $65.15 - minus the pole.
The first budget hearing was held. The
Library budget increased 22.8%.Several
more hearings are scheduled before the
budget is finalized.
After much discussion - it was decided that
the librarian peruse the old "Selection
Policies" and add or delete her own suggest
tions for the Board to act upon next month.
The Library should have "censorship or com-
plaint forms" (best to have a standard writ
ten form) in case ever needed.Librarian
to have a sample for next meeting.
Several ideas were presented, such as, nee(
of a program for young adults; and some
long term plans for an adequate Library
building.

adjourn.The motion was seconded by
Don Taylor and passed Unanimously.
