Call to Order Chair Mitchell called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. B. Pledge of Allegiance Chair Mitchell led the Pledge of Allegiance. C. Roll Call Present 5- Commissioner Borey Vice Chair Erickson Commissioner Kinner Commissioner Brennan Chairperson Mitchell Staff present: Jennifer Pena, City Clerk Others: Barbara Kelly, Contract Worker D. Consent Agenda Vice Chair Erickson)moved,seconded by Commissioner Brennan that the Health and Human Services Commission accept the agenda as amended and approve the minutes from the December 27,2021 regular meeting Yes: 5- Commissioner Borey,Vice Chair Erickson, Commissioner Kinner, Commissioner Brennan and Chairperson Mitchell No: 0 Chair Mitchell removed item no. 22-059 as it was a duplicate agenda item. Chair Mitchell called for a motion. 22-047 Consideration of approval of agenda. 22-048 Consideration of approval of regular meeting minutes of December 27, 2021. E. Public Hearings F. Old Business City of Apache Junction,Arizona Pagel Health and Human Services Meeting Minutes January 24,2022 Commission 22-051 Update on the Health and Human Services Commission Request for Financial Assistance Scoring Rubric. City Clerk Jennifer Pena presented the updated scoring rubric for the commission's review. The commission had no comments and liked the new format of the rubric. 22-059 Review, discussion and possible direction to staff on the Health and Human Services Financial Assistance Scoring Rubric. 22-060 Discussion and consideration on assessing community needs though a survey. Vice Chair Erickson presented several different surveys that can be used for gathering information. Chair Mitchell talked about using existing survey data as opposed to creating a new survey. City Clerk Jennifer Pena said this will be done at the council's direction if they would like to initiate the process as there isn't city staff or commission members to properly survey our citizens. She added this will be discussed at a council work session and possibly a regular council meeting for a direction to staff. She added that this would be a council policy decision. 22-061 Review of funding application timeline. City Clerk Pena reviewed the funding application timeline. G. New Business 22-062 Discussion on possible joint meeting with the city council on February 28, 2022. Vice Chair Erickson moved,seconded by Brennan that item no.22-062 as a continuation for discussion on a possible joint meeting to the February 28,2022 Health and Human Service Commission meeting. Yes: 5- Commissioner Borey,Vice Chair Erickson, Commissioner Kinner, Commissioner Brennan and Chairperson Mitchell No: 0 City Clerk Jennifer Pena reviewed the possibility of having a joint meeting between city council and the commission. She said that after revewng the city council discussion there will be a city council work session to discuss city code, set priorities, accountability, expectations, goals of the commission,and possibly decide how the funds should be utilized. She added that there may be a funding time limit as far as how many years an entity can receive funding. She recommended the item be continued so that it can be discussed at a future meeting. Chair Mitchell called for a motion to continue the item until February 28, 2022. H. Information and Reports 22-049 Announcement of community events. City of Apache Junction,Arizona page 2 Health and Human Services Meeting Minutes January 24,2022 Commission Vice Chair Erickson announced the Genesis Project is open on Sunday, January 30 from 12 pm to 2 pm for the Rhino Recreation. Lunch will be served. They are located at 564 N. Idaho Road, Ste. 5 in Apache Junction. Commissioner Borey announced the Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets for the Lost Dutchman Days from February 25th through February 27, 2022. She added there is a rodeo dance, a parade and a carnival. Information can be obtained at the chamber of commerce or www.lostdutchmandays.org. Chair Mitchell announced that the Lost Dutchman Marathon is February 20th and starts at 7:45am. The Rotary Club will be hosting a water station for the runners. He added that Stand Up AJ, a nonprofit devoted to drug awareness and helping children make better choices, is having a meeting on Wednesday, January 26th at 3:00 pm at the Multi Gen Center and invites everyone to their meeting. He added the Rotary Club of Superstition Mountain invites everyone to their meeting on Wednesday at 12:00 at the Gold Canyon Gold Club. He also invited anyone interested to attend the Focal Point and Tourism Group meeting on Tuesday, February 8th at the Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 am. The Pinal County Point in Time count has been rescheduled due to the increasing numbers of covid. It's been rescheduled for February 23rd through the 28th. Commissioner Borey announced that on January 29th at 7:00 am is the Lost Dutchman Charity Golf Tournament, the Renaissance Festival starts February 5 through April 3rd, on February 12 is movies in park at Flatiron Park and in March is the Blues and Brews at Flatiron Park, March 12th is the Antique Tractor Show at the Rodeo Grounds. Selection of Meeting Dates, Times, Location and Purpose 22-050 The regularly scheduled commission meetings are the fourth Monday of each month at 5:00pm in the city council chambers located at 300 E. Superstition Boulevard. Chair Mitchell announced the next meeting will be Monday, February 28, 2022 at 5:00 pm. K.
