Chair Brennan called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m.

Agenda as presented.

3. 24-999 Introduction of new commission member and city staff.
Acting City Clerk and Staff Liason Evie McKinney introduced herself and Administrative
Assistant Amy Greening to the Commission.
New Commission member Sandi Mykland introduced herself and gave a summary of her
background. Each Commission member then introduced themselves as well.

4. 24-1000 Nominations and election of chair and vice chair.
Commissioner Brennan called upon Acting City Clerk Evie McKinney,who explained the process
of nominating and selecting the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
Commissioner Brennan asked for a motion to open nominations for the Chairperson.
Commissioner Smithson moved, seconded by Commissioner Moeller that nominations for the
Chairperson be opened.
Motion passed 6-0
Absent 1 -Commissioner Wood
Commissioner Brennan asked for nominations for the Chairperson.
Commissioner Danford nominated Commissioner Brennan for the Chairperson.
Commissioner Brennan asked if there are any other nominations.
Commissioner Brennan asked if there are any other nominations.

Commissioner Danford moved,seconded by Commissioner Moeller to close nominations for the
Chairperson.

Acting City Clerk Evie McKinney informed a motion is now necessary for the nomination of
Commissioner Brennan as Chairperson along with a second.
Commissioner Danford moved,seconded by Commissioner Moeller to select Commissioner
Brennan as Chairperson.

Commissioner Brennan asked for a motion to open nominations for the Vice Chairperson.

5. 24-1002 Discussion on Fiscal Year 25/26 Health and Human Services New
Application and Funding timeline.
Acting City Clerk Evie McKinney went over the updated funding application and explained the
timeline of the funding process. She stated when the meetings will occur and what agenda
items will take place at each one. She made a correction to the agenda future meeting dates by
changing the March 24, 2025, meeting to March 31, 2025.
Commissioner concerns included what the total funding amount will be this year, if the
non-profits are vetted by the City, if the joint meeting with City Council will be rescheduled, and
more guidance on what Council is expecting.
Ms. McKinney responded to concerns.
6. 25-036 Discussion of Commission duties.
Acting City Clerk Evie McKinney read the section of City Code that explained the duties of the
Commission.
Commissioners asked if Public Hearings have ever been conducted for the Commission,
transportation for seniors, youth services and preventative care.
Ms. McKinney stated she would get clarification on their concerns and it will be discussed more
at the February meeting.

H. Staff Liaison's Report
Acting City Clerk Evie McKinney announced that Jennifer Pena submitted her resignation letter
effective November 28, 2024, and the City is in process of filling the City Clerk position. She
also shared the 2025 City of Apache Junction State of the City is being held at the Desert View
Events Center, 2014 S. Starr Road,Apache Junction. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with light
refreshments and the presentation follows at 6:00 p.m.

7. 25-035 Tentative Meeting of the Health and Human Services Commission to be
held at 5:00 p.m. on February 24, 2025, March 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.,
and March 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the city council chambers located at
300 E. Superstition Boulevard.
Chair Brennan moved,seconded by Commissioner Moeller that the next Health and Human
Services Commission meetings be held as follows: Monday, February 24,2025, Monday,March 11,
2025,and Monday,March 31,2025,all at 5:00 p.m.in the city council chambers located at 300 E.
Superstition Boulevard,Apache Junction,AZ.
