A. Call to Order
Chair Brennan called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m

Chair Brennan led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Commissioner Moeller moved, seconded by Commissioner Danford to approve the Consent
Agenda as presented.

3. 25-076 Presentation and discussion on the applications submitted for Fiscal
Year 2025-2026 funding.
Commission members discussed the 5 applications that were submitted for funding for Fiscal
Year 2025-2026. The concerns they had included:
1. Apache Junction Community Development Corporation -fundraising, average cost per clean
up, how many referrals from the City they received in 2024, confusion on expenses listed, and
what the barriers are for not doing more projects.
2. Begin Again Homes-funding for Apache Junction residents only, confusion on how the
emergency hotel stays are handled, no financial history, and what other funding they receive.
3. Boys and Girls Club-fundraising events and other grants received, retention of students,
statistics listed for all of Arizona and not just Apache Junction, and what the funding will be used
fo r.
4. Over-Flo Missions -timeline of when they will provide services, confusion on the budget and
advertising of service.
5. Superstition Community Food Bank-funding from other cities, qualification process, seniors
on the waiting list, size of food boxes per family, community partnerships and success of the
holiday meal boxes.
Board Liason Evie McKinney stated she would email the applicants the video of this meeting so
they can be prepared for their presentations. She also notified the Commission that the Boys
and Girls Club received a grant from the VFW for$11,000 last year.
Ms. McKinney also went over the previous years funding Comparison Table and the
Commissioner's scoring sheet. She informed the Commission that Horizon Health and
Wellness declined the funding awarded last Fiscal Ypar.
4. 25-095 Consideration and Discussion on other duties the Commission is
responsible for.
Board Liason Evie McKinney suggested meeting after the funding recommendations have been
completed to expand on additional Commission duties.

5. 25-094 Discussion and possible time change for March 10, 2025 Special
Meeting.
Commissioner Moeller moved, seconded by Commissioner Mykland that the next Health and
Human Services Commission Special Meeting be held on Monday, March 10,2025,at 3:00 p.m. in
the City Council Chambers located at 300 E.Superstition Boulevard, Apache Junction, AZ.

Commissioner Smithson, Commissioner Voisine and Commissioner Mykland
No: 0
Absent: 1 - Commissioner Wood
Board Liason Evie McKinney informed the Commission of a conflict with holding the next
meeting on March 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. due to a regularly scheduled Public Arts Commission
meeting. She suggested 3:00 p.m. on March 10, 2025. The Commission members agreed to
this update.
