HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS MONTH
JANUARY 2026
WHEREAS, January is nationally recognized as Anti-Human Trafficking Month,
a time dedicated to raising awareness, supporting victims and
survivors, and strengthening our collective efforts to combat this
horrific crime; and
WHEREAS, human trafficking remains a widespread and underreported crime
occurring in communities across the United States, including
Arizona, affecting individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and
demographics; and
WHEREAS, the fight against human trafficking requires the collaboration of
schools, churches, non-profits, law enforcement, businesses, and
concerned citizens to intervene, disrupt trafficking activity, and
provide resources and compassionate care to victims; and
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction joins statewide coalitions, community
organizations, and the Not in Our City movement in demonstrating
its commitment to bring light to the darkness of human trafficking to
increase public awareness of the impact this crime has on
communities throughout Arizona; and
WHEREAS, continued leadership from cities and towns across the state
strengthens Arizona's united stance, deepens community
engagement, and amplifies efforts to oppose human trafficking in all
its forms;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Walter"Chip" Wilson, Mayor of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona, do hereby proclaim January 2026, as
HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS MONTH
