HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-04-23 City Council Regular Minutes CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 23, 1987 The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, was held on April 23, 1987, at the Apache Junction City Council Chambers pursuant to the notice required by law. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Hill call the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present. Councilman Eidson Councilman Burgess Councilman Baljo Councilwoman Taylor Councilwoman Gardner Vice Mayor Bakkedahl Mayor Hill Staff Present: City Manager Bill R. Da Vee City Clerk Kathleen Connelly City Attorney David Alexander EXECUTIVE SESSION, APRIL 23, 1987 Councilwoman Gardner MOVED THAT AN EXECUTIVE SESSION BE HELD AT 6:00 P.M , ON APRIL 23, 1987, IN THE CITY COUNCIL CONFERENCE ROOM. Councilman Baljo seconded the motion. VOTE• Unanimous The motion carried. Mayor Hill recessed the meeting into Executive Session at 6 04 p.m. Mayor Hill reconvened the Special Meeting at 6: 24 p.m DESIGNATION OF LOCATION FOR APRIL 30TH JOINT WORK SESSION WITH PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION Councilman Eidson explained that the Chamber staff had mistakenly scheduled two meetings in their conference room for the same time and asked that the Council meet in the Council Chambers instead since the room was available. _ Councilman Eidson MOVED THAT THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION AND CITY COUNCIL JOINT WORK SESSION BE HELD AT 7:00 P.M. , ON APRIL 30, 1987, IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS. Councilman Baljo seconded the motion. VOTE: Unanimous The motion carried. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL APRIL 23, 1987 PAGE ONE RESOLUTION NO. 87-25, MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL INTENT WITH REGARD TO PROVIDING UTILITY SERVICES FOR CITY RESIDENTS ) Mayor Hill asked for a motion on Resolution No. 87-25. Councilman Baljo deferred to Councilman Eidson since he felt it was better for an elected official to make the motion. Mayor Hill pointed out that Councilman Baljo was just as much a councilman as everyone else and it didn't matter that he was on the Council by appointment rather than by election. He requested that the record show this. Councilman Eidson MOVED THAT RESOLUTION NO. 87-25, A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, STATING THE CITY COUNCIL 'S INTENT TO ACQUIRE WATER COMPANIES SERVICING THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, DIRECTING THE PREPARATION OF A RESOLUTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH A.R.S. SECTION 9-524 PERTAINING TO THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAID WATER COMPANIES, AND AUTHORIZING NEGOTIATION FOR SERVICES OF CONSULTANTS PERTAINING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SAID BONDS, BE APPROVED AND ADOPTED. Councilman Baljo seconded the motion. VOTE• Unanimous The motion carried. Councilman Eidson told those •�• members of the public present that information and a statement on the action will be coming from the City Manager. ADJOURNMENT Councilwoman Gardner MOVED THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED AT 6:40 P.M Councilman Baljo seconded the motion. VOTE. Unanimous The motion carried.
