LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Regular Meeting
October 7, 1986
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held
October 7, 1986 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

Others present: None
1. Acceptance of Agenda. Motion was made by Ruby Forsberg and
seconded by Terry Spence to accept the
agenda. Motion passed.
2. Acceptance of Minutes for
September 2, 1986 Regular Meeting: Motion made by Terry Spence and
seconded by Ruby Forsberg to accept
the minutes. Motion carried.
3. Acceptance of Minutes for
September 18, 1986 Special Meeting. Motion made by Ruby Forsberg and
seconded by Terry Spence to accept the
m minutes. Motion carried.
4. Librarian Report. Librarian's report showed a small
increased circulation over last month
and a doubled circulation over a year
ago. New readers registered: 334.
Six story hours for 73 children were
held. Two tours were conducted for
23 persons in attendance.
5. Old Business:
A. Policy on Library Program Room use
and review of calendar of room use. Discussion was held on Policy 3 concerning
the Trustees granting the right of
approval for use of the program to the
Library Director. The Director is a
professional person hired to direct all
activities of the library and should be
accorded this duty as a matter of course.
She will also discuss these policies with
Mr. Bell.
Motion to accept the policy for room use
Am. was made by Ruby Forsberg and seconded by
Terry Spence. Carried unanimously.
B. Review and recommendation on
talent bank application(s) : Terry Spence moved, seconded by Ruby
Forsberg to recommend Cheryl Class-
Erickson for appointment to the Library
Board of Trustees. Passed unanimously.
6. New Business:
A. Request by Superstition
Mountain Historical Museum
Committee for permanent display
area in the library: Pam Loui explained this request for a
display to be placed permanently in the
outer lobby. The committee involved
City of Apache Junction

assured her that they carry their own
insurance.
A motion was made by Terry Spence and
seconded by Ruby Forsberg to support
this idea and so inform the City
'-' Council. Motion approved.
B. Review of radio frequency
security system and vote for
approval of L.S.C.A. grant
application: The Library Director explained the types of
security systems available and explained
that the radio frequency security system
is both cheaper and safer. Motion made
by Catharine Sterr, seconded by Terry
Spence, to submit L.S.C.A. grant
application to the City Council. All
voted in favor.

current Library Board members: June 30, 1987•

D. Review of duties of the

F. Announcement of a special
workshop for Library Board
members: Pamela Loui announced a special
workshop for Library Board members to
be held in Tucson on November 11th
and 12th and recommended it to the
Board

9. Adjournment: Motion made by Catharine Sterr and
seconded by Terry Spence.
