Regular Meeting
March 3, 1987
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was
held March 3, 1987 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice
as prescribed by law.

1. Acceptance of Agenda: Motion was made by Linda Navarre
and seconded by Barbara Gordon to
accept the agenda, after a change
was made allowing new business before
old business to accommodate Mr. Broman.
2. Acceptance of Minutes for February 3,
1987 Regular Meeting. Motion made by Terry Spence and
seconded by Linda Navarre to accept
the minutes. Motion carried.
3. Librarian's Report: Circulation for February totaled 9556,
slightly higher than for last month
and more than 3400 higher than a year
ago. 325 new readers were registered.
26 volumes, 274 books, and 177 cassettes
were added to the Apache Junction
collection. Public services included
156 reference questions handled and
66 interlibrary loan requests were
processed. Patron visits totaled 5659.
15 story hours were held with 225
participants. Film presentations were
made with 401 participants. Seven
tours were conducted.
A computer error has been corrected;
records and tapes are not now recorded
with books.
4. New Business:
a. Parking lot addition: Mr. Rich Broman presented two alter-
natives for additional parking. One
for 17 spaces and another for 10 spaces.
He also presented future plans for park
and picnic areas that may affect the
City Complex.
The consensus of opinion favored gravel
for the northwest corner; the alternative
for additional 17 spaces. This is favored
on a temporary basis because this is the
area set aside for future expansion of
the library. Further information will be
coming after plans of Community Service
are known.

5. Old Business:
a. Budget request for 1987/88: Pamela Loui gave a comparison of
current budget and proposed budget
requests. She explained need for room
dividers for children's programs,
privacy for legal aid, & to display
student art work; the $22,000 in salary
increases for new year; and travel
allowance for volunteers serving homebound
clients.
Motion to accept the proposed 1987/88
budget was made by Terry Spence and
seconded by Barbara Gordon. Motion
carried with one member abstaining.
6. Call to the Public: No response.
7. Requests for future agenda items: Liability for Board Members.
