1. Acceptance of Minutes for
.... July 7, 1987 Regular Meeting: Motion was made by Ruby Forsberg and
seconded by Terry Spence to accept
the minutes.
3. Librarian Report: Librarian's report covered books,
magazines, audio-cassettes, records
and other materials loaned or used.
Report showed a decrease of 456 books
in circulation over previous month,
but an increase of 3,262 over the same
month one year ago. Report also
covered statistics for Technical
Services, Public Services and receipts
for July 1987.
Included was the monthly narrative

the note that the hardware for the

the City Council, Board members
cannot be sued or found liable for
pecuniary damages while they are
acting for the City government.
Actual findings on this research is
being forwarded by the Maricopa
County Law Library and will be
available for members to see at the
library.
5. New Business:
a. Request by Apache Junction
Woman's Club to place
"Histories" in library: Request was made by a representative
of the Woman's Club for the library
to house their scrap books covering
history of the club from 1961 to 1980.
Under discussion it was felt that the
Board did not want to set a precedent
for this type, however an exception
... would be made due to the close ties
between the library and the Woman's
Club, and it was felt the exception
would be appropriate. Due to the
nature of the materials, it was
recommended by the Librarian that the
materials be maintained in the
Librarian's office and not to be
allowed out of the library. The
maintenance of the scrap book would
be handled by the Woman's Club.
Motion was made by Terry Spence and
seconded by Virginia Carlson-Foat to
accept the Historical Scrap Books
under the previous mentioned conditions.
Roll Call vote was unanimous.
b. Review of talent bank
applications submitted for
Library Board vacancy: The Board members interviewed appli-
cants James Lovett, Kathleen Little,
Samuel Krause and Anthony Snelling.
Motion was made by Terry Spence and
seconded by Ruby Forsberg to recommend
that the Council accept James Lovett
as a new member of the Library Board.
A poll of Board members resulted in a
unanimous decision. It was decided by
the Board members to have a Form
letter sent to the other applicants
to let them know that even though they

needed in the future.
