Special Meeting - March 20, 1990
A Special Meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees
was held on March 20, 1990 at 6:30 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library
pursuant to notice as prescribed by law.

Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director
1. Acceptance of Agenda: Motion was made by Virginia
Carlson-Foat and seconded by
Gladys A. Benson to accept
the agenda. Motion carried.
2. Alternative Revenue Sources: Library Director reviewed
alternative revenue sources
recommended to the Board for
consideration:
a. Increase fines to 10C a day.
Maximum of $5.00 per item.
b. Increase processing fee to
$5.00.
c. Increase annual fee for out-
of-county patrons to $10.00.
d. Tie I.L.L. postage reimburse-
ment to postage rates.
e. Eliminate most mailing of
library cards.
f. Pursue sponsors willing to
cover printing costs of
bookmarks in exchange for
advertising space.
Board member Randy Palmer sug-
gested investigation of a refund-
• able deposit on I.L.L. books.
This was noted for a future
agenda item.

Gladys made a motion to accept
the alternative revenue sources
and cost containment measures
recommended by the Library
Director. Seconded by Randy
Palmer.
3. Budget discussion and
recommendation: Library Director reviewed the
budget proposal for 1990/91.
Mary Ann Webb motioned to accept
it as presented. Gladys A.
Benson seconded. Unanimous.
The budget proposal is to be
submitted to the City Manager
by March 23, 1990.
4. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 7: 15 p.m.
