Call to Order Chair Schoenbeck called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. 2. Pledge of Allegiance Chair Schoenbeck led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Roll Call Present 7- Vice Chair Gage Board Member Borey Chairperson Schoenbeck Board Member Buzzin Board Member Biggs Board Member Weller Board Member Waldie 4. Consent Agenda Vice Chair Gage moved, seconded by Board Member Waldie,that we approve the agenda for tonight's meeting.Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Buzzin,Waldie, Schoenbeck, Gage, Biggs, Weller, Borey. No: none.) Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Buzzin,to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2018. Chair Schoenbeck pointed out his name was spelled incorrectly on page 3. (Yes:Waldie, Schoenbeck, Gage, Biggs,Weller, Borey, Buzzin. No: none.) 19-018 Consideration of approval of agenda. 19-019 Consideration of approval of meeting minutes of June 11, 2018. S. Public Hearings City of Apache Junction,Arizona Pagel Board of Adjustment Meeting Minutes February 11,2019 19-017 Presentation, discussion, public hearing and consideration of case BA-1-18, appeal of the Zoning Administrator's decision by Mr. Mehmood Mohiuddin, represented by Aaron Ludwig of Ludwig Law Offices, Ltd. Mr. Mohiuddin challenges the zoning administrator's determination that the use of properties (current and former storage lots)east and south of the Hitching Post Restaurant and bull riding venue located at 2341 N.Apache Trail, cannot be used for customer parking; contending that use of said areas is allowed by right and through an Economic Development Agreement and site plans. City Attorney Stern addressed the board regarding case BA-1-18 and the continuance requested by the applicant's attorney. Chair Schoenbeck opened the public hearing portion of the item. Bambi Johnson, 2319 N. Cortez Road,Apache Junction expressed concerned with the delay in cases involving the Hitching Post. Having no others wishing to address the board, Chair Schoenbeck closed the public hearing portion of the item. Board Member Waldie moved, seconded by Board Member Buzzin, to accept the request of the applicant's attorney, Mr.Aaron Ludwig,to continue this matter until the Board of Adjustment's meeting on May 13, 2019. Board Member Biggs asked City Attorney Stern if the case was previously dismissed. He replied that it was a previous case that was dismissed and is not the same but he or staff doesn't know what the future of the case will be before them tonight. Approved in a vote 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Schoenbeck, Gage, Biggs, Weller, Borey, Buzzin, Waldie. No: none.) 6. New Business 19-020 Election of Chair and Vice Chair. Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion to open the nominations for the chairman position. Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Waldie, to open the nominations for the chairman.Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Gage, Biggs,Weller, Borey, Buzzin, Waldie, Schoenbeck. No: none.) Chair Schoenbeck called for nominations. Vice Chair Gage nominated Chair Schoenbeck as chairman. Chair Schoenbeck called for other nominations three times. Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion to close the nominations for chairman. Vice Chair Gage moved, seconded by Board Member Biggs,to close the nominations for the chairman.Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion to approve Frank Schoenbeck as chairman. Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Waldie,to approve Frank Schoenbeck as the chair.Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Gage, Biggs,Weller, Borey, Buzzin,Waldie, Schoenbeck. No: none.) Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion to open nominations for the 2019 vice chair. Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Borey,to open the nominations for the vice chairman.Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Gage, Schoenbeck, Waldie, Buzzin, Brey,Weller, Biggs. No: none.) Chair Schoenbeck called for nominations. Chair Schoenbeck nominated Vice Chair Gage as vice chairman. Chair Schoenbeck called for other nominations three times. Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion to close the nominations for vice chairman. Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Buzzin,to close the nominations for the vice chairman.Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Biggs. Weller, Borey, Buzzin,Waldie, Schoenbeck, Gage. No: none.) Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion to approve Jesse Gage as vice chairman. Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Waldie, to elect Jesse Gage as vice chairman. Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Biggs, Weller, Borey, Buzzin, Waldie, Schoenbeck, Gage. No: none.) 7. Selection of Meeting Dates, Times, Location and Purpose Chair Schoenbeck called for a motion. Board Member Biggs moved, seconded by Board Member Buzzin,that the Board of Adjustment hold regular meetings on March 11, 2019 and May 13, 2019 at TOOpm in the city council chambers located at 300 E. Superstition Boulevard. Approved in a vote of 7 in favor and none opposed. (Yes: Weller, Borey, Buzzin, Waldie, Schoenbeck, Gage, Biggs. No: none.) 8.
