KATHLEEN CONNELLY City Clerk APPROVED AS TO FORM. RICHARD J. STERN City Attorney ORDINANCE NO. 1380 PAGE 4 OF 4 To• Mayor, City Council and City Manager From• James Hazel, Presiding Magistrate Date. February 27,2012 Subject: Changes in the Parking Ordinance As you are aware, the City of Apache Junction recently began to enforce handicap parking violations. During the course of this enforcement it was determined that the city ordinance did not allow for the reduction in fines for those who may have violated the ordinance but in fact have a valid placard Acting under City Council direction, the City Attorney has redrafted the ordinance to allow for a reduced fine for those violations where a person has a placard but did not have it displayed at the time of the violation. The Municipal Court supports the changes in ordinance as proposed by the City Attorney as it helps resolve these cases short of a contested hearing.
