We have representatives from the County, , visiting law enforcement, and Tribal members, All of which I know Chief Pooley wishes to recognize in just a while. Jennifer: Most importantly we would like to extend a warm welcome to Chief Pooley, and his family, with us tonight is his wife Teresita, his son Michael and Daughters Natalya, Alyssa and Kamilah, and Chief Pooley's father and mother Albert and Julia Pooley. Before we get started with the swearing.in we will have comments from Mayor Wilson and then our city manager G� Bryant Powell. v ayo: ',D w1 Good evening everyone, this is a very special and important day as it is my great pleasure to welcome Chief Mike Pooley to Apache Junction. I too would like to welcome Chief Pooley's family, to our family here in Apache Junction. ayor: I am extremely impressed by Chief Pooley's community centric thinking, his generosity and selflessness will continue to bring great cfges to the City. He has. eached out and connected to many AJ residents a:hd businesses:pr:ior to his employment:.: -He. and his family a:re in Apache Junction frequently for sfiopping and, dining. e F He-is already very,active in the community especially with the Schools and with . .a Youth:Outreach Apache Junction has roughly 42,000 full time residents, with another 40,000 or so during our winter months. Apache Junction is not a large city, but neither are we a small city. We value our down-home values, the caring and helping of our neighbors, as does our staff and our police force. Our Officers here in Apache Junction are very busy not only in their duties, but they strive to excel in their community outreach efforts and overall community support. The Apache Junction Police Chief is the highest ranking peace-keeper within the city. The Chief provides leadership for activities that keep us safe, enforces the law and contributes to our well-being. Let us remember that the Chief and his officers cannot keep our community safe without the help of its residents. Their work requires the support and cooperation of all of you, our residents, our extended family. Working in partnership we are able to protect the community and solve crimes. Police Officers are people too, deserving of the kindness and respect we all want from each other. Mayor: At this time I will introduce City Manager Bryant Powell to say a few words.Cr�, ana erh7 F�r� f ,rr�ks>z��er�'`�i� ropy x�� ;/✓`/��vkhri a � ��W'i`��,/ �ur ��rr�r�'�m�`� a/u �3d<r r3.n Our goal is to continue hiring a diverse work force that embraces the values and traditions of our unique city. s i Chief Pooley comes from the City of Tempe with an extensive 21 year background in law enforcement. His last 2 years in Tempe saw him overseeing Field Operations, the Metro Division and Criminal Investigations. He spent 3 years serving as a commander, overseeing Patrol, Metro, Professional Standards and Hiring and Training. He is also very involved in many community programs, which the Mayor eluded to. - He created and was involved in several youth programs over his career - He is active in supporting mental health programs as an active member of the Solari Advisory Council, which is a non-profit that runs crisis and human services programs. Chief Pooley holds a Bachelors from ASU in Justice Studies, A Masters in Education from NAU in Counseling And graduated from Northwestern Police Staff and Command School as well as completing the Senior Management Institute of Police Command School. We are highly impressed by Chief Pooley's personal approach to all issues and his servant leadership style. rant So I too extend a warm welcome to you and your family as you join ours.
