MEMORANDUM TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
THROUGH: CITY MANAGER .47
FROM: CITY CLERK
SUBJECT: CITY CODE CHAPTER 3 AMENDMENTS
The attached charts detail the practices of various cities and towns with
regard to the organization of their individual departments and divisions.
The number in parentheses below the name of the city indicates the present
population.
Each city or town was asked if their city code listed their individual
departments, named the department head by title, listed the divisions and
division head by title, any other subordinate positions, and if the
functions of each were included.
At appears that the majority of those contacted included the departments,
department heads and their functions. The listing of the divisions varied,
and very few included other subordinate positions. A few of the charter
cities indicated that department positions were included in their charter
in addition to the city code.
Also attached for your review is a copy of my memorandum to the council
dated November 18, 1985, as well as a copy of Chapter 3 of the City Code.
Please bring all of these materials to the special work session scheduled
for Thursday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
