Broman, Director of Public Works The City of Apache Junction received three bids under Bid Call No. 001-80, City Hall Modular Units. Having thorcughly reviewed all bids and specifi- cations with the Building Official, City Manager & a Public Safety repre- sentative, it is recommended that the bid be awarded to Bullock Builders, 650 W. McKellips Road, Mesa, Arizona as the lowest responsible bidder. Care- ful review of the specifications reveal that they in some cases exceed the specifications which will in all cases benefit the City of Apache Junction. The particular plans call for strict attention to the all-important energy factor as well as structural compliance with the U.B.C. I am pleased to announce to the Council that the lowest responsible bidder was approximately $30,000 under the staff estimate. Additionally, I have also been informed of the receipt of $68,000 to the Public Safety Department for police-related equipment in connection with this facility. The difference between the high and low bidders was approximately $30,000. The difference between the low bidder and the next lowest bid is approximately $18,000. All persons participating in the review have indicated they concur with the attached recommendations. The bid package and other documents are available for Council perusal in the Director of Public Works Office. PROJECT NO. 001-80 MODULAR UNITS MARCH 6, 1980 10:00 A.M. CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE PRESENT: G. Ray Lee, City Manager; Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk; Marlis J. Davis, Director of Administrative Services; Richard Broman, Director of Public Works; Mercer Weiskotten, Police Lieutenant; Joe Harrison, and Ross Newton of Ranch Homes, Chandler; Barabara Van Cleve of ComBuilt; and Jim W. Hardin of Curt Bullock Builders. The meeting opened at 10:00 a.m. in the City Manager's office. G. Ray Lee, City Manager opened the first bid from Ranch Homes, 950 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, Arizona 85224. The bid submitted by Ranch Homes was as follows: Proposal 1 Unit 1 $ 48,216 Unit 2 $ 52,218 Unit 3 $ 60,545 Proposal 2 Unit 1 $ 45,282 Optional Unit 2 $ 48,531 Unit 3 $ 55,529 It was stated that delivery time would be 45 days of receipt of the order. Mr. Harrison explained the purpose of the optional proposals, due to the specifications on the insulation factor. The second bid opened was from ComBuilt, P. 0. Box 28038, Tempe, Arizona 85282. The bid submitted by ComBuilt was as follows: Unit 1 $ 45,570 Unit 2 $ 50,020 Unit 3 $ 53,770 It was stated that delivery time would be 45 days of receipt of the order, and also agreed on the specifications on the insulation factor, but did not submit an optional bid. 150 NORTH OCOTILLO • POST OFFICE BOX K,APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA 85220 • TELEPHONE(602)982-6154 BID OPENING P.W. McKellips, Mesa, Arizona, The bid submitted by Bullock Builders was as follows: Unit 1 $ 38,806.76 Unit 2 $ 45,177.20 Unit 3 $ 46,866.25 The delivery date was not stated, but the gentleman did indicate at the meeting that 45 days would be necessary and he explained how he handled the specifications on the insulation factor. There being no further bids, the meeting was closed. Isabel C.
