2. 26-44 Presentation, discussion and update on Verde River Sediment Mitigation
Study.
District Director Loggins presented an overview of the Verde River Mitigation Study. The
subcommittee came together to discuss the reallocation process for the remaining capacity
after the federal government expressed interest in half of the capacity created by the modified
dam. Most cities wanted to go back to the original allocation requested. The other cities wanted
to start over with the process. Salt River Project presented two different options and the
subcommittee decided to go back to the original plan of cities' needs versus what cities wants.
Most of the cities voted to go back to the original allocation request. The District secured votes
to retain 4,741-acre feet(AF)/year capacity in Modified Bartlett, which is more than half of the
original request of 7,718 AF/year. Negotiations are still in process with the federal government.
Mr. Loggins presented a timeline to show the progress of the project. Estimate for the final
project is $3.4 billion.
3. 26-45 Presentation, discussion, and update on District wide water system.
Mr. Loggins presented an update on the District wide water system. Drilling on Well 10 will be
starting at Ironwood Road, north of Ray Avenue. The final build out of the Water Treatment Plant
and the expansion and upgrade of Booster Station 2 have both started.
Chairperson Soller asked about the Colorado River and where the states are in deciding a
solution for reallocating water between the states. Since the upper and lower states could not
come to an agreement, the federal government will be reviewing and trying to come up with a
solution.
