A special meeting of the City Council of Apache Junction was held on
the 2nd of April,1979 at the Apache Junction City Hall,pursuant to
the notice as required by law.
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.by Mayor Roy Hudson.
Councilmembers present:Mayor Roy Hudson,Jerry Burgess,Thomas
Damiano,Virginia Seeman, and Marie Shanks.
Councilmembers absent:Vic&Mayor John Granillo and Vinton Peck.
Staff present:Isabel C.Ballard,City Clerk;and Susan Goodwin,City Attorney.
Canvass of Election Returns
The Mayor and Council canvassed the returns of the Primary Election
held on March 27th,1979.A motion was made by Thomas Damiano that
the following Resolution be adopted:
Resolution No.79-15
WHEREAS the Primary Election for City Councilmembers for Apache Junction
was held on March 27,1979 and
WHEREAS a Special Meeting of the City Council was held on April 2, 1979,
pursuant to law,for the purpose of canvassing the returns of said elec-tion;and
WHEREAS the City Council did canvass the election returns at said Special
Meeting and did determine the official results of the election
NOWTHEREFORE be i t resolved:
That the City Council declares the official returns of the Primary Elec-tion for City Councilmembelts of the City of Apache Junction be as follows:
1. The number of ballots cast in Precinct 22A: 580
The number of ballots cast in Precinct 22B: 712
2. The number of ballots rejected in Precinct 22A: 6
The number of ballots rejected in Precinct 22B: 8
3. The names of the persons voted to fill the office of City
Councilmembers:

John S.Granillo 724
Jerry Burgess 700

Further resolved that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed tonotifythepersonselectedandtoissuethecertificatesofelection
as provided by law.

and seconded by Virginia Seeman.
Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Hudson directed Susan Goodwin to prepare the necessary paper work
pursuant to law on the Superior Court automatic recount.
Mayor Hudson requested an executive session for personnel purposes on
Wednesday,April 4, 1979 at 7:00 p.m.The City Council agreed unanimously.
Meeting adjourned:8:50 p.m.
