May 30, 1979
A special meeting of the City Council of Apache Junction was held
on the 30th day of May, 1979 at the Apache Junction City Hall, pursuant
to notice as required by law.
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by Mayor Roy Hudson.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Thomas Damiano.
Councilmembers present:
Mayor Roy Hudson, Vice -mayor John Granillo, Jerry Burgess, Thomas
Damiano, Vinton Peck, Virginia Seeman and Marie Shanks.
Staff present:
Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk; Susan Goodwin and Mike Curtis, City
Attorneys.
Resolution No. 79-19:
Marie Shanks made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 79-19, seconded
by Virginia Seeman.
Attorney Mike Curtis read Resolution No. 79-19 per Marie Shanks motion.
Resolution No. 79-19:
Resolved that the compensation of the members of the City Council of k/Apache Junction other than the Mayor be and is the same hereby fixed
at the sum of one hundred dollars ($100) per month pursuant to
ARS 9-274 et sequitur and that the compensation of the Mayor be and
the same is hereby set at two hundred dollars ($200) per month.
Vinton Peck made a motion to amend Resolution No. 79-19.
Attorney Mike Curtis read the amended motion .
Amended Resolution No. 79-19:
That in lieu of reimbursement of actual expenses that the members of
the City Council of Apache Junction except for the Mayor be paid as
and for expenses one hundred dollars ($100) per month and that the
Mayor of Apache Junction be paid as and for expenses the sum of
two hundred dollars ($200) per month.
The amended motion died due to lack of a second motion.
A motion to adopt the original Resolution No. 79-19 was made by Marie
Shanks, seconded by Virginia Seeman.Four (4) voted yes - Vice -mayor
John Granillo, Thomas Damiano, Virginia Seeman, Marie Shanks.Three (3)
voted no - Mayor Roy Hudson, Jerry Burgess, Vinton Peck.Motion carried.
Adjournment:
A motion to adjourn was made by Marie Shanks, seconded by Virginia
Seeman.Motion carried unanimously.

A special meeting of the City Council of Apache Junction was held on the
30th day of May, 1979 at the Apache Junction City Hall, pursuant to
notice as required by law.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by John Granillo.
Invocation was presented by Vinton Peck.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jerry Burgess.
Councilmembers present:
John Granillo, Jerry Burgess, Jimmy Eidson, Thomas Damiano, Norman Hill,
Virginia Seeman and Marie Shanks.
Staff present:
Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk; Susan Goodwin and Mike Curtis, City Attorneys.
John Granillo turned the meeting over to Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk.
Oath of Office:
The Oath of Office was administered to Councilmembers Jerry Burgess, Thomas
Damiano, Jimmy Eidson, John Granillo, Norman Hill, Virginia Seeman and
Marie Shanks by Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk.
Nominations for Mayor:
The City Clerk opened the nominations for Mayor.Marie Shanks nominated
Virginia Seeman as Mayor and seconded by Thomas Damiano.The City Clerk
asked if there were any further nominations.Since there were no further
nominations the City Clerk requested a motion to close the nominations for
Mayor.A motion was made by John Granillo to close the nominations and
seconded by Marie Shanks.Motion carried unanimously.
Marie Shanks made a motion that Virginia Seeman be declared Mayor and
seconded by Thomas Damiano.Motion carried unanimously.
The City Clerk then turned the meeting over to Mayor Virginia Seeman.
Nominations for Vice -Mayor:
Mayor Virginia Seeman opened nominations for Vice -Mayor.Thomas Damiano
nominated John Granillo for Vice -Mayor and seconded by Jerry Burgess.No
further nominations were made, therefore nominations were closed.The
Council unanimously voted for John Granillo as Vice -Mayor.
Resolution No. 79-20:
Vice -mayor John Granillo read Resolution No. 79-20 commending Mayor Roy
Hudson and motion to approve Resolution No. 79-20, seconded by Thomas Damiano.
Motion carried unanimously.
Vice -mayor John Granillo presented a placnue to former Mayor Roy Hudson.
Resolution No. 79-21:
Marie Shanks read Resolution No. 79-21 commending Councilman Vinton Peck
and made a motion to approve Resolution No. 79-21, seconded by Thomas Damiano.
Motion carried unanimously.
Marie Shanks presented a placnue to former Councilman Vinton Peck.
Mayor Virginia Seeman declared the meeting adjourned and renuested the
Councilmembers to remain to sign the Resolutions.
Adjournment:7:30 p.m.
