June 11, 1979
A special meeting of the City Council of Apache Junction was held on the 11th
day of June, 1979 at the Apache Junction City Hall, pursuant to notice as
required by law.
The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by Mayor Virginia Seeman.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jerry Burgess.
Councilmembers present
Mayor Virginia Seeman, Jerry Burgess, Thomas Damian°, Jimmy Eidson, Norman
Hill and Marie Shanks.
Councilmembers absent
Vice -mayor John Granillo.
Staff present
Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk.
Executive Session
Mayor Virginia Seeman discussed setting a date for executive sessions for
personnel and employees. Jimmy Eidson made a motion to approve executive sessions
for June 13th, 20th and 27th at 7:00 p.m. to be followed by regular meetings,
seconded by Jerry Burgess.Motion carried unanimously.
City Code Public Hearings
Mayor Virginia Seeman reported an emergency meeting for the City Code Hearing
must be established as suggested by the city attorney and at least one public
hearing is required. There was discussion of dates as to when Cathy Connelly
from the League of Arizona Cities and Towns could be present as well as dates
not conflicting with other scheduled meetings. Marie Shanks made a motion the
date of June 20th at 6:00 p.m. be set to hold an executive session and the City
Code Hearing and Regular Meeting to follow, seconded by Norman Hill.Motion
carried unanimously.
Remove City Code from Calendar
The date of Saturday, June 23rd at 9:00 a.m. had previously been set for City
Code and since the date was changed to June 20th the date of June 23rd may not
be needed.Marie Shanks made a motion to remove the City Code date of June 23rd
from the calendar, seconded by Norman Hill. Motion carried unanimously.
