HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD99ORDINANCE NO.99 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, AMENDING SECTION 608 OF THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE,1979 EDITION; BY ADD- ING SECTION 608 (c)(1);PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA THAT: SECTION I IN GENERAL That Section 608 is amended as follows: (a) Appliances, devices, equipment or other apparatus not regularly classed as plumbing fixtures, which are equipped with pumps, drips or drainage outlets, may be drained by indirect waste pipes discharging into an approved type open receptor. (b) When the condensate waste from air conditioning coils dis- charges by direct connection, to a lavatory tailpiece or to an approved accessible inlet on a bathtub overflow, the connection shall be located in the area controlled by the same person con- trolling the air conditioned space. (c) Except as provided in subsection (c) (1), no domestic dish- washing machine shall be directly connected to a drainage system or food waste disposer without the use of an approved dishwasher air -gap fitting on the discharge side of the dishwashing machine. Listed airgaps shall be installed with the flood level (FL) mark- ing at or above the flood level of the sink or drainboard, which- ever is higher. (1) Direct connection may be made providing the drain is looped up and securely fastened to the underside of the counter- top and provided the dishwasher is also equipped with a vacuum breaker on the inlet side of the water supply connection. SECTION II REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS All ordinances and parts of ordinances sions of this ordinance or any part of reference, are hereby repealed. PROVISIONS in conflict with the provi- the code adopted herein by SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
