AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, AMENDING
SECTION 401 AND SECTION 503 OF THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1979
EDITION;PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;PRO-
VIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA THAT:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
That Subsection (a) of Section 401 is amended to
read as follows:
(a)Materials.Drainage piping shall be cast iron, galvanized
iron, galvanized wrought iron, lead, copper, brass, ABS, PVC or
other approved materials having a smooth and uniform bore, ex-
cept:(1)that no galvanized steel Pipe shall be used uncle/-
ground and shall be kept at least six (6) inches above the ground;
(2)ABS and PVC DV Piping installations shall be limited to
those structures where combustible construction is allowed.
That Subsection (a) of Section 503 is amended to
read as follows:
(a)Vent pipe shall be cast iron, galvanized wrought iron, lead,
copper, brass, ABS, PVC or other approved materials, except:
(1)That no galvanized wrought iron or galvanized steel pipe
shall be used underground and shall be kept at least six (6) inches
above the ground;(2) ABS and PVC DWV pining installations
shall be limited to those structures where combustible construc-
tion is allowed.
SECTION II REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance or any Part of the code
adopted herein by reference, are hereby repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, Phrase
or portion of this ordinance or any nart of the code adopted
herein by reference is for any reason held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent juris-
diction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions thereof.
SECTION IV EMERGENCY CLAUSE
It is necessary for the preservation of peace,
health, and safety of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona,
that this Ordinance become effective immediately, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance
shall be effective immediately upon passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona this Sth day
of Auguct , 1981.
