June 30, 1979
A special meeting of the Apache Junction City Council was held at the City
Hall June 30, 1979, pursuant to notice as required by law.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vice -mayor John Granillo.
Councilmembers present
Mayor Virginia Seeman, Vice -mayor John Granillo, Thomas Damiano, Jimmy Eidson,
Norman Hill, Marie Shanks.
Councilmembers absent
Jerry Burgess

Isabel C. Ballard, City Clerk
Appointment of a Zoning Administrator
Discussion was held on the appointment of a Zoning Administrator and at this
time a permanent zoning administrator could not be obtained.Vice -mayor John
Granillo made a motion to appoint Althea Nunn as acting Zone Administrator on
a temporary basis, seconded by Thomas Damiano.Motion carried unanimously.
Appointment on Planning and Zoning Commission
Mayor Virginia Seeman reported a letter of resignation from Mr. Hill and
stated he would like to be able to serve at a later date.Marie Shanks stated
she felt if people appointed resign, their names should be placed on a list
for other future committees.
Mayor Virginia Seeman appointed William Lee Vaughn and Keith Stacher to the
Planning and Zoning Advisory Committee and instructed the City Clerk to so
notify these persons of the next meeting of Planning and Zoning.
Mayor Virginia Seeman appointed Sims Strickler to the Planning and Zoning
Commission.Vice -mayor John Granillo made a motion to approve this appointment,
seconded by Thomas Damiano.Four (4) voted yes - Mayor Virginia Seeman, Vice-
mayor John Granillo, Thomas Damiano, Jimmy Eidson.Two (2) voted no - Norman
Hill and Marie Shanks.Mayor Virginia Seeman instructed the City Clerk to so
notify Mr. Strickler of the next meeting inasmuch as a chiarman and vice -chair
man will be selected.
Additional Secretary
Mayor and Council discussed the need of a new secretary due to taking one of
the secretaries for the acting Zoning Administrator.Thomas Damiano made a
motion to have the City Clerk appoint an additional secreta-y, seconded by
Vice -mayor John Granillo.Five (5) voted yes - Mayor Virginia Seeman, Vice-
mayor John Granillo, Thomas Damiano, Jimmy Eidson, Norman Hill.One (1) voted
no - Marie Shanks.
