AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AMENDING THE APACHE JUNCTION CITY
CODE,CHAPTER 2 MAYOR AND COUNCIL,ARTICLE 2-5 ORDINANCES,
RESOLUTIONS AND CONTRACTS,BY AMENDING THE TITLE OF ARTICLE
2-5 AND BY AMENDING SECTION 2-5-4 TWO SEPARATE READINGS;
REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY;AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
That Chapter 2 MAYOR AND COUNCIL,Article 2-5 ORDINANCES,
RESOLUTIONS'AND CONTRACTS,be amended by changing the title of Article
2-5 as follows:
ARTICLE 2-5 ORDINANCES,RESOLUTIONS AND COUNCIL ACTIONS
as follows':
That Section 2-5-4 Two Separate Readings,be amended to read
Section 2-5-4 Two Separate Readings
All ordinances shall have at least one reading which may be
held in conjunction with a public hearing.The first reading
may be by title only.Upon the majority vote of the Council,
a second reading shall be held at a time and date designated
by the Council.The second reading shall be by title only
unless requested to be read in full by a majority vote of
the Council.
SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the pro-
visions of this ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by
reference are hereby repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion
of this ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference is,
for -anycreason;held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of
any court of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions thereof.
SECTION IV EMERGENCY CLAUSE
I t being necessary for the preservation of the peace,health and
safety of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,an emergency is declared
to exist and this ordinance shall become immediately operative and in
force from and after the date of posting hereof.

OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 20TH DAY OF NOVEMBER ,1984.
