was the No. 2 bull rider for the state of Arizona at the end of June.
He mentioned the Apache Junction kids Idol winner, Isis Schmidt, performed at the Chamber of
Commerce banquet and performed the National Anthem acell .

when driving.
Vice Mayor Wilson announced a previous Apache Junction resident and high school graduate
has returned home to live. Do to unforeseen circumstances she had fallen on hard times but

to provide her a refurbished mobile home. He thanked them for their hard work and support of
veterans and welcomed her home.
Mayor Serdy announced the Mesa Gateway Airport has new restaurants; a Panera and
Macayos.
He thanked everyone for being extremely careful this year with their fireworks, as the Woodbury
Fire was a very present reminder of how dry Arizona is. He thanked Republic Service for the
fireworks they have contributed all these years since 2008.
He presented a handmade plaque that was made of the trash picked up by Lyle Anderson. Mr.
Anderson picks up broken glass and other material as he cleans the mountain trails and paths

City Manager Bryant Powell commented on the recognition the pool received. The competition
included private pools, public pools and resort pools. To compete at that level truly shows the
hard work and dedication the community had in getting the pool built. The land is school district
land, the community had penny drives, and so many other fundraising events and resources to
raise the funds to build the pool. It was a 20 year effort.
He reported the Woodbury Fire is contained but still burning. He thanked everyone for their
support of the fire fighters and the many fire fighters and departments that came from around
the state to help.
