AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,ESTABLISHING TWO-WAY STOPS AT
CORTEZ ROAD AND JUNCTION STREET,CORTEZ ROAD AND EAST 2ND
AVENUE,CORTEZ ROAD AND EAST 4TH AVENUE,SOUTHERN AVENUE
AND CORTEZ ROAD,APACHE DRIVE AND 20TH AVENUE,COCONINO
DRIVE AND 20TH AVENUE,PAPAGO DRIVE AND 20TH AVENUE,WEST
10TH AVENUE AND SOUTH DELAWARE DRIVE AND WEST 13TH AVENUE
AND SOUTH DELAWARE DRIVE;REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;PROVIDING PENALTIES;AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
I t being in the public interest to insure safe,effective and efficient
traffic flow along public rights -of -way within the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,a determination has been made that the establishment of two-way
stops at Cortez Road and Junction Street,Cortez Road and East 2nd Avenue,
Cortez Road and East 4th Avenue,Southern Avenue and Cortez Road,Apache
Drive and 20th Avenue,Coconino Drive and 20th Avenue,Papago Drive and
20th Avenue,West 10th Avenue and South Delaware Drive,West 13th Avenue
and South Delaware Drive,are necessary to insure the health,safety and
welfare of the public and,therefore,the Director of Public Works and the
Director of Publi cSafety are hereby empowered and directed to initiate
appropriate action to install traffic control devices at these locations.
SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are
hereby repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this
ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference is,for any
reason,held to be invalid or unconsitutional by the decision of any court
of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of
of the remaining portions thereof.
SECTION IV PENALTY CLAUSE
Any person found guilty of any violation of or failure or refusal to do or
perform any act required by Chapter 12 of this code constitutes a civil
traffic violation.Civil traffic violationsare subject to the provisions
of Title 28,Chapter 6,Articles 20 and 21,Arizona Revised Statutes,and
amendments thereto.
SECTION V EMERGENCY CLAUSE
I t is necessary for the preservation of the peace,health and safety of the
City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that this ordinance become effective
immediately,an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
shall be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.

APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 2ND DAY OF APRIL ,1985.
