AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,ESTABLISHING THE SPEED LIMIT ON LOST DUTCHMAN BOULEVARD,BETWEEN
MERIDIAN DRIVE AND IDAHO ROAD;TOMAHAWK ROAD,BETWEEN SUPERSTITION BOULEVARD
AND STATE ROUTE 88;SOUTHERN AVENUE,BETWEEN TOMAHAWK ROAD AND CORTEZ ROAD;
GOLDFIELD ROAD,BETWEEN LOST DUTCHMAN AND U.S.HIGHWAY 60;TEPEE STREET,
BETWEEN MERIDIAN AND DRIVE AND IDAHO ROAD;SHIPROCK STREET,BETWEEN MERIDIAN
DRIVE AND MAIN DRIVE;SAN MARCOS DRIVE,BETWEEN BROADWAY AVENUE AND SOUTHERN
AVENUE;TEPEE STREET,BETWEEN STATE ROUTE 88 AND GOLDFIELD ROAD;JUNCTION
STREET,BETWEEN IDAHO ROAD AND GOLDFIELD ROAD;4TH AVENUE,BETWEEN WINCHESTER
ROAD AND GOLDFIELD ROAD;CORTEZ ROAD,BETWEEN SOUTHERN AVENUE AND U.S.HIGHWAY
60;STARR ROAD,BETWEEN SUPERSTITION BOULEVARD AND U.S.HIGHWAY 60;HILTON
ROAD,BETWEEN SUPERSTITION BOULEVARD AND BROADWAY AVENUE;REPEALING ANY
CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,THAT:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
I t is in the public interest to insure safe,effective and efficient traffic
flow along public rights -of -way within the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,
and i t has been determined speed limits are necessary for the public safety;
therefore,the speed limit be established at 35 M.P.H.on:
Lost Dutchman Boulevard,between Meridian Drive and Idaho Road;
Tomahawk Road,between Superstition Boulevard and State Route 88;
Southern Avenue,between Tomahawk Road and Cortez Road;
Goldfield Road,between Lost Dutchman Boulevard and U.S.Highway 60;
and that the speed limit be established at 30 M.P.H.on:
Tepee Street,between Meridian Drive and Idaho Road;
Shiprock Street,between Meridian Drive and Main Drive;
Roundup Street,between Meridian Drive to San Marcos Drive;
San Marcos Drive,between Broadway Avenue and Southern Avenue;
Tepee Street,between State Route 88 and Goldfield Road;
Junction Street,between Idaho Road and Goldfield Road;
4th Avenue,between Winchester Road and Goldfield Road;
Cortez Road,between Southern Avenue and U.S.Highway 60;
Starr Road,between Superstition Boulevard and U.S.Highway 60;
Hilton Road,between Superstition Boulevard and Broadway Avenue;
and that the Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are
hereby empowered and directed to initiate appropriate action to install the
speed limit signs and enforce the speed limits on the referenced streets.
SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby
repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,sub -section,sentence,phrase,clause,or portion of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any
reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decisions of any court
of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions thereof.

SECTION IV PENALTY CLAUSE
Any person found guilty of any violation of or failure or refusal to do or
perform any act required by Chapter 12 of this code constitutes a civil traffic
violation.Civil traffic violations are subject to the provisions of Title
28,Chapter 6,Articles 20 and 21,Arizona Revised Statutes,and amendments
thereto.
SECTION V EMERGENCY CLAUSE
I t is necessary for the preservation of the peace,health and safety of the
City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that this ordinance become effective immediately,
an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be effective
immediately upon passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED •by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,this 16th day of April ,1985.
