HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD446ORDINANCE NO.446 AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AMENDING THE APACHE JUNCTION CITY CODE,CHAPTER 2 MAYOR AND COUNCIL,ARTICLE 2-14 YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD;REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I IN GENERAL That the Apache Junction City Code,Chapter 2 MAYOR AND COUNCIL, Article 2-14 YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD,be amended to read as follows: ARTICLE 2-14 YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD Section 2-14-2 Membership and Terms of Office A.The Youth Advisory Board shall consist of twenty (20)members who shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.The twenty member board shall be composed as follows:twelve (12)juveniles consisting of two (2)representatives from each class grades 7 through 12,recommended by the school district and residing within the school district boundaries; eight (8)adults who shall be selected through the same application process as for other boards and commissions and who shall reside within the corporate limits.Ex officio members,without voting privileges,may be designated by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. B.All members of the Board shall be appointed for a term of one (1)year with all terms expiring on June 30 and shall serve until their successors are duly appointed and qualified.Ex officio members shall serve for a term of one (1)year with said term expiring on June 30. Section 2-14-5 Meetings The Board shall establish a regular meeting day and time and shall meet at least once each month.Special meetings may be called as required.All meetings shall be held in compliance with the Open Meeting Act as provided for in A.R.S.§38-431 as amended.A quorum shall consist of eleven (11)voting members for the trans- action of all business. SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference are hereby repealed. SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference is,for any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof. SECTION IV EMERGENCY CLAUSE I t being necessary for the preservation of the peace,health and safety of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall become immediately operative and in force from and after the date of adoption.
