SPECIAL MEETING
DECEMBER 29,2001
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,was held on December 29,2001,at the Apache Junction City Council
Chambers pursuant to the notice required by law.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Coleman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

commented the executive session is to occur at 7:00 p.m.this evening in the
City Conference Center.
The council recessed to executive session at 7:05 p.m.
Mayor Coleman reconvened the special
meeting of the city council at 8:50 p.m.
RECONVENE SPECIAL MEETING FOR DISCUSSION
AND RATIFICATION OF DECEMBER 21,2001
SUSPENSION OF CITY MANAGER AND FOR
DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION FOR
REMOVAL,SUSPENSION AND/OR ACCEPTANCE OF
RESIGNATION OF CITY MANAGER CURTIS SHOOK,
INCLUDING TERMS AND CONDITIONS THEREOF,
PURSUANT TO APACHE JUNCTION CITY CODE
§3-1-10
)Councilmember Durbala MOVED THAT
THE DECEMBER 21,2001,EXECUTIVE SESSION DECISION TO SUSPEND CITY MANAGER
CURTIS SHOOK WITHOUT PAY FOR 30 DAYS BEGINNING DECEMBER 22,2001,THROUGH
JANUARY 21,2002,BE RATIFIED RETROACTIVELY.
Vice Mayor Surra SECONDED THE
MOTION.
VOTE:5-2 (Councilmembers Milkey and Eck voted in opposition.)
The motion carried.
DISCUSSION_ON DESIGNATION OF ACTING CITY
MANAGER IN ACCORDANCE WITH APACHE JUNCTION
CITY CODE §3-1-6(6)
)Councilmember Durbala MOVED THAT
ON THE DECEMBER 21,2001,DECISION TO APPOINT ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER GEORGE
HOFFMAN AS ACTING CITY MANAGER DURING THE 30 DAY SUSPENSION PERIOD BE RATIFIED
RETROACTIVELY.
