SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 7,1991
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,was held on June 7,1991,at the Apache Junction City Council Chambers
pursuant to the notice required by law.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Damiano called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Assistant City Manager George Hoffman
As provided by the notice required by State law,Mayor Damiano convened
the Executive Session for purposes of interviewing candidates and contract nego-
tiations regarding the city attorney position;legal advice regarding contract
negotiations;and the city's position with regard to city attorney position.
Following the Executive Session,and as provided by the notice required
by State law,Mayor Damiano reconvened the special meeting for purposes of
extending an offer with regard to city attorney position and/or authorize city
attorney to negotiate contract with attorney position candidates.
Councilwoman Alger MOVED THAT THE
CITY ATTORNEY BE AUTHORIZED TO NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT WITH GLEN GIMBUT FOR $60,000
ANNUALLY WITH THE SAME BENEFITS AS INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT CONTRACT,FOR A TERM
OF TWO YEARS WITH A SIX MONTH NOTICE TO TERMINATE OR REHIRE BY EITHER PARTY,AND
ANY OTHER LANGUAGE AS NECESSARY.THAT THE NEGOTIATIONS BE FINALIZED AND THE
CONTRACT BROUGHT BACK TO THE CITY COUNCIL AT THE JUNE 18,1991,REGULAR MEETING,
TO BECOME EFFECTIVE NO LATER THAT AUGUST 1,1991,AND THAT THERE BE A REVIEW OF
THE CONTRACT AFTER ONE YEAR FOR A POSSIBLE SALARY INCREASE AT THE SUBSEQUENT
BUDGET YEAR AS PART OF THE ANNUAL BUDGET PROCESS.

Councilman Cox seconded the motion.
Councilwoman Barker amended the
motion THAT THE SALARY AMOUNT BE $58,500.
The motion died due to lack of a
second.
VOTE:Unanimous
The motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
)There being no further business to
discuss,Mayor Damiano adjourned the meeting at 9:40 p.m.
