AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,REPEALING THE DESIGNATION OF VARIOUS STOP SIGN LOCATIONS
ESTABLISHED IN ORDINANCE NO.392,AND ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS AT VARIOUS
LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA;REPEALING ANY
CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
WHEREAS,pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Annotated ("A.R.S.")§ 9-276,i t is
in the public interest to ensure safe,effective and efficient traffic flow along
public right-of-ways within the City of Apache Junction.Arizona;and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Apache Junction City Code §§ 12-2-4 and 12-2-10 (A)and (B),
the City of Apache Junction may erect and maintain stop signs to regulate traffic
at intersections;and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council find that traffic control devices are
necessary to further this goal:and
WHEREAS,significant changes in the traffic pattern occurring at the intersection
of Tomahawk Road and Scenic Street justifies removal of the stop signs;and
WHEREAS,the intersections at Scenic Street and Tomahawk Road,Sierra Vista Drive
and 5th Avenue,Desert View Drive and Tepee.Street Desert View Drive and
Smoketree Street.have all met traffic signal warrants whereby the installation
and enforcement of stop signs is justified..
NOW,THEREFORE.BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I REMOVAL OF STOP SIGNS AT CERTAIN LOCATIONS
1.Stop signs warrants at the following locations previously authorized under
Ordinance No.392 are hereby repealed and the stop signs shall be removed at the
same locations:
Northbound Tomahawk Road at Scenic Street
Southbound Tomahawk Road at Scenic Street
2.The Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are
empowered and directed to initiate appropriate action to remOve the stop
signs currently in place at these locations.

SECTION I I ESTABLISHMENT OF STOP SIGN LOCATIONS
1.Stop signs shall be established at the following locations:
Eastbound Scenic Street at Tomahawk Road
Westbound Scenic Street at Tomahawk Road
Northbound Sierra Vista Drive at 5th Avenue
Southbound Desert View Drive at Tepee Street
Northbound Desert View Drive at.Tepee Street
Northbound Desert View Drive at Smoketree Street
2.The Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are
empowered and directed to initiate appropriate action to install,maintain
and enforce the laws relating to stop signs erected at the locations noted
above.
SECTION III REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinances,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby
repealed.
SECTION IV PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section.subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent
jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions thereof.
