AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,ESTABLISHING LOCATIONS FOR STOP SIGNS IN THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA:REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS:PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY:AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS,pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Annotated §9-276,i t is in the public
interest to ensure safe,effective and efficient traffic flow along public rights-
of -way within the City of Apache Junction,Arizona:and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council find that traffic control devices are necessary
to further this goal:and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Apache Junction City Code §§12-2-4 and 12-2-10 (A)and (B),
the City of Apache Junction may erect and maintain stop signs to regulate traffic
at intersections:and
WHEREAS,significant changes in the traffic pattern at given intersections
justifies the need for new stop signs.
NOW,THEREFORE.BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
1.Stop signs shall be established at the following locations:
Eastbound Foothill Street at Cortez Road
Westbound Foothill Street at Cortez Road
2.The Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are empowered
and directed to initiate appropriate action to install,maintain and enforce
the laws relating to stop signs erected at the locations noted above.
SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinances,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby
repealed.

SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
If any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this ordinance,
or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason held to be
invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction,
such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
SECTION IV DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
The immediate operation of the provisions bf this Ordinance is necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace,health or safety of the City of Apache
Junction,and that an emergency is hereby declared to exist;and this Ordinance
shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,adoption and approval
by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,and is exempt from
referendum provisions of the Constitution and laws of the State of Arizona as
provided in A.R.S.§19-142(B).
