ARIZONA:ESTABLISHING LOCATIONS FOR STOP SIGNS IN THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS:PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY:AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS,pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Annotated §9-276,i t is in the public interest to ensure safe,effective and efficient traffic flow along public rights -of -way within the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,and WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council find that traffic control devices are necessary to further this goal.and WHEREAS,pursuant to Apache Junction City Code §12-2-4 and 12-2-10 (A)and (B), the City of Apache Junction may erect and maintain stop signs to regulate traffic at intersections,and WHEREAS.significant changes in the traffic pattern at given intersections justify the need for new stop signs. NOW,THEREFORE.BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA.AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I IN GENERAL 1.Stop signs shall be established at the following locations: Eastbound Montebello Avenue at Valley Drive Southbound Lago Drive at Sierra Vista Drive Northbound Acacia Road at 4th Avenue Southbound Acacia Road at 6th Avenue Northbound Vista Road at 2nd Avenue Southbound Bowman Road at Junction Street Northbound Belair Road at Junction Street Northbound Colt Road at Superstition Boulevard Eastbound 22nd Avenue at Cortez Road Eastbound 15th Avenue at Goldfield Road Eastbound 10th Avenue at Starr Road Ordinance No.1153 Page 1 of 4 Westbound 10th Avenue at Starr Road Northbound Chaparral Road at Scenic Street Northbound Solana Road at Superstition Boulevard Northbound Vaquero Road at Foothill Street Northbound Solana Road at Foothill Street Southbound Wickiup Road at Apache Trail (Highway 88) Southbound Coconino Drive at 16th Avenue Northbound Weaver Drive at 21st Avenue Eastbound 15th Lane at San Marcos Drive Westbound 10th Avenue at Palo Verde Drive Westbound Scenic Street at Pinyon Drive Northbound Desert View Drive at Tepee Street 2.The Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are empowered and directed to initiate appropriate action to install,maintain and enforce the laws relating to stop signs erected at the locations noted above. SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby repealed. SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY I f any section.subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof. SECTION IV DECLARING AN EMERGENCY The immediate operation of the provisions of this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,health or safety of the City of Apache Junction,and that an emergency is hereby declared to exist:and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.adoption and approval by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction.and is exempt from referendum provisions of the Constitution and laws of the State of Arizona as provided in A.R.S.§19-142(B).
