AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF..THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AMENDING THE APACHE „JUNCTION CITY CODE,CHAPTER 2,
MAYOR AND COUNCIL,SECTION 2-1-5 COMPENSATION;REPEALING ANY
CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
WHEREAS,Article 2-1 of Volume I of the Apache Junction City Code relates to
Mayor and Council;and
WHEREAS.Section 2-1-5 of Article 2-1 relates tb compensation of the Mayor,
Vice Mayor and City Councilmembers;and..
WHEREAS,such section was last amended in 1989;and
WHEREAS,recently the Mayor and City Council directed staff to perform a
survey of what other communities pay their Mayors,Vice Mayors and Councilmembers,
and when such pay takes affect;and
WHEREAS,based on this analysis,the Mayor and City Council believe that an
adjustment is justified.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,as follows:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
Apache Junction City Code,Chapter 2,Mayor and Council.Section 2-1-5,
Compensation,is amended to read as follows:
Sec.2-1-5 Compensation
A.The salary for the position of mayor shall be paid at the rate of one
thousand dollars ($1,000.00)per month.
B.The salary for the position of vice mayor shall be paid at the rate of
nine hundred dollars ($900.00)per month.
C.The salary for the position of councilmember shall be paid at the rate
of eight hundred dollars ($800.00)per month.

D.The monthly compensation levels .set forth above for the mayor,vice
mayor and each councilmember shall take effect on July 1,2005.
E.Until the effective dates noted above,the following monthly
compensation shall apply:Mayor:$600.00 per month:Vice Mayor:$500.00
per month:Councilmembers:$400.00 per month.
SECTION I I REPEALING CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby
repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this ordinance,
or any part of the Code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason held to be
invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction,
such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion thereof.
