HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD626ORDINANCE NO.626 AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AMENDING THE APACHE JUNCTION CITY CODE BY AMENDING CHAPTER 3 ADMINISTRATION,ARTICLE 3-10 PERSONNEL SYSTEM,PERTAINING TO APPLICATIONS AND APPLICANTS, REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS,AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I IN GENERAL That Chapter 3 ADMINISTRATION,Article 3-10 PERSONNEL SYSTEM,be amended to read as follows: ARTICLE 3-10 PERSONNEL SYSTEM A.That certain document entitled City of Apache Junction Personnel Policies be amended to read as follows: RULE IV.APPLICATIONS AND APPLICANTS Section 1.Announcements: I n the event of personnel vacancies i n any City department,first con- siderations will be given to current City employees.Promotional announcements on each vacant position available i n the classified ser- vice shall be forwarded to each department or division within the City for posting i n a location accessible to all employees within the department or division.Consideration of filling the vacancy with current City personnel will be dependent upon experience and training, job performance,and length of service. In the event there are no current City employees interested i n or qualified for filling the vacancy,outside recruitment will be used to fi ll the position to include those applicants currently on an approved, valid recruitment list and,i f no such list is available,by publica- tion of an advertisement in a newspaper of local ciculation.Both the promotional announcement and the job advertisement shall specify the title and pay of the position,nature of the work to be performed, minimum requirements for the performance of the work,the manner of making application,and other pertinent information as may be necessary The provisions of this section shall apply to all vacancies occurring within the classified personnel service. Section 2.Application Forms:No Change ORDINANCE NO.626 Page 1 of 2 Section 3.Disqualifications:No Change B.That certain document entitled City of Apache Junction Police Policies and Procedures be amended to read as follows: 3.35 Police Employment I n the event of personnel vacancies in the Apache Junction Police Department,the vacancy shall be filled i n accordance with the procedures set forth i n the Apache Junction Personnel Policies,Rule IV,Applications and Applications,Section 1, Announcements. SECTION II.REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS All ordinances and parts of ordinances i n conflict with the provi- sions of this ordinance or any part of the Code adopted herein by reference are hereby repealed. SECTION III.PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY I f any section,subsection,sentence,clause,phrase,or portion of this ordinance or any part of the Code adopted herein by reference is, for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
