AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AMENDING THE APACHE JUNCTION CITY
CODE,CHAPTER 2 MAYOR AND COUNCIL,ARTICLE 2-17 APACHE
JUNCTION TRANSPORTATION BOARD,SECTION 2-17-2 MEMBERSHIP AND
TERMS OF OFFICE;REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;AND
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
That the Apache Junction City Code,Chapter 2 Mayor and Council,Article 2-17
Apache Junction Transportation Board,Section 2-17-2 Membership and Terms of
Office;be amended to read as follows:
Article 2-17 Apache Junction Transportation Board
Section 2-17-2 Membership and Terms of Office
A.The Apache Junction Transportation Board shall consist of seven members who
shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council.The seven
members shall consist of one member of the Economic Development Commission,
one member of the Planning and Zoning Commission,and five citizen members.
At least four members of the board shall be city residents.The Mayor shall
serve as an ex officio member.
B.All members of the board shall have the power to vote on all matters
presented to them for consideration,except the mayor who shall serve as a
non -voting ex officio member.
C.The five citizen members of the board shall serve for terms of three years
each with the first three member terms commencing on the date of appointment
and expiring on June 30,1991,and the next two members terms commencing on
the date of appointment and expiring June 30,1992.Thereafter,all terms
shall be for three years each.All other members of the board shall serve
as long as they are acting in the capacity or position so named.
Representatives of the Economic Development Commission and the Planning and
Zoning Commission shall be so designated by the respective commission
chairman.
D.A Technical Advisory Committee consisting of the city manager,the director
of public works,the city engineer,the director of development services and
other members of city staff as may be deemed appropriate shall assist the
board when necessary.The department of public works shall be responsible
for providing a recording secretary for the board.

SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference are hereby
repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this
ordinance or any part of the code adopted herein by reference is,for any
reason,held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions thereof.
