HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD851ORDINANCE NO.851 AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA;ESTABLISHING THE SPEED LIMIT ON PRINCIPAL ARTERIAL,MINOR ARTERIAL AND COLLECTOR STREETS;REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA THAT: SECTION I IN GENERAL It is in the public interest to insure safe,effective and efficient traffic flow along public rights -of -way within the City of Apache Junction,Arizona and it has been determined that speed limits are necessary for the public safety.Now, therefore be i t ordained that speed limits be established as follows: Baseline Avenue -Ironwood Dr.to Idaho Rd.45 MPH 16th Avenue -Delaware Dr.to Ironwood Dr.25 MPH 16th Avenue -Idaho Rd.to Royal Palm Rd.35 MPH Broadway Avenue -Goldfield Rd.to Arroya Rd.35 MPH Superstition Boulevard -Goldfield Rd.to Arroya Rd.35 MPH Jacob Waltz Street -Mt.View Rd.to City Limits 40 MPH Hackamore Road -SR88 to McKellips Rd.35 MPH Bulldog Mine Road -Lost Dutchman Blvd.to McKellips Rd.45 MPH Mountain View Road -Mt.View Rd.to SR88 40 MPH Lost Dutchman Boulevard -Idaho Rd.to Tomahawk Rd.45 MPH Lost Dutchman Boulevard -Tomahawk Rd.to SR88 45 MPH Lost Dutchman Boulevard -Goldfield Rd.to Mt.View Rd.40 MPH Cortez Road -Broadway Ave.to Tepee St.35 MPH San Marcos Drive -Superstition Blvd.to Lost Dutchman Blvd.35 MPH Idaho Road -Lost Dutchman Blvd.to McKellips Rd.,45 MPH Ironwood Drive -Lost Dutchman Blvd.to McKellips Rd.45 MPH Meridian Drive -Lost Dutchman Blvd.to McKellips Rd.45 MPH N.Apache Trail -W.Apache Trail to Idaho Rd.35 MPH W.Apache Trail -Meridian Dr.to Ironwood Dr.45 MPH W.Apache Trail -Ironwood Dr.to Phelps Dr.45 MPH Old US 60 -Phelps Dr.to Idaho Rd.45 MPH Old US 60 -Idaho Rd.to Royal Palm Rd.45 MPH Old US 60 -Royal Palm Rd.to Goldfield Rd.55 MPH Furthermore,the Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are hereby empowered and directed to initiate appropriate action to install speed limit signs and enforce the speed limit on the referenced streets. SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby repealed. Ordinance No.851 Page 1 of 2 SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof. SECTION IV EMERGENCY CLAUSE It is necessary for the preservation of the peace,health and safety of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that this ordinance become effective immediately,an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon passage and adoption.
