AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,AMENDING THE APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,ZONING ORDINANCE,BY AMENDING
SECTION 19.0106,REQUIRING OUTDOOR SECURITY LIGHTING FOR COMMERCIAL AND MULTI-
FAMILY PLANNED DEVELOPMENTS;REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;AND PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,THAT:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
Section 19.0106,Development Standards of Article 19,Planned Development of the
Apache Junction Zoning Ordinance is amended by adding the new item five to read:
5.Security and Outdoor Lighting:The exterior lighting of a project should
provide for the illumination of the building and its grounds for safety
purposes,but in an aesthetic manner.
a.General illumination of outdoor areas such as:walkways,roadways,
parking lots,ingress and egress areas to both property and buildings
shall be furnished to provide visibility,security and a pleasing
aesthetic quality to the overall development.
b.Fixtures used in exterior lighting should be selected for functional
and aesthetic value;and meet all the criteria for Article 23,
Outdoor Lighting of the Apache Junction Zoning Ordinance.
c.Light fixtures should be placed and screened to limit the emission
of light beyond the property boundaries.
d.Landscaping should not block surveillance abilities.
SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby
repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent
jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions thereof.
