A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION, FINAL COUNTY, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, OFFICE OF HIGHWAY
SAFETY, FOR FUNDING OF A TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT UNIT AND
SUPPORT EQUIPMENT/COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE APACHE JUNCTION
POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Office of Highway Safety will consider the request of
the City Council of the City of Apache Junction for the funding of a
Traffic Enforcement Unit and Support Equipment/Communications for the
Apache Junction Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it to be in the best interest
of the City to maintain safe motoring within the City in an efficient
and responsive manner; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this request for assistance is to control
speed and alcohol related activities within the City limits; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE AND HEREBY IS AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTS WHICH MAY BE NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT
SAID AGREEMENT:
