A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, DECLARING THAT
THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION ENDORSES THE POSSIBILITY OF A TRANSIT
SYSTEM BEING PROVIDED WITHIN APACHE JUNCTION WITH SERVICE TO ADJACENT
COMMUNITIES: AND ENDORSESANY APPLICATION OF THE METROPOLITAN TRANSIT
SYSTEMS, INC., TO THE URBAN MASS TRANSIT AUTHORITY FOR FUNDING OF
SUCH A TRANSIT SYSTEM: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, representatives of Metropolitan Transit Systems, Inc., have
appeared before the Apache Junction City Council requesting that the City
Council support the effort of Metropolitan Transit Systems, Inc., to pro-
vide a transit system; and
WHEREAS, a proposed transit system would serve the area, including
Mesa, Gilbert, GM Proving Grounds, and Apache Junction; and
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction has a population which would
benefit from a transit system providing efficient transportation for the
elderly and also those persons who might be employed in other areas of the
eastern Valley; and
WHEREAS, the transit system could provide for an energy savings in
terms of fuel consumption; and
WHEREAS, although the City of Apache Junction has no funds which it
can make directly available to Metropolitan Transit Systems. Inc., the
City Council expresses its support for the application of Metropolitan
Transit Systems, Inc., to the Urban Mass Transit System for an assistance
loan to purchase operating equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE City Council of the City of
Apache Junction endorses the application of Metropolitan Transit Systems,
Inc., to the Urban Mass Transit Authority for an assistance loan to pur-
chase operating equipment; and
FURTHER, the City Council of Apache Junction encourages Metropolitan
Transit Systems, Inc., to pursue their attempt to provide transit service
to the residents of Apache Junction; and
WHEREAS, the immediate operation of the provisions of this
resolution is necessary for the preservation of the public peaee,
health, safety, and general welfare, an emergency is hereby declared
to exist and this resolution shall be in full force in effect from, and
after its passage, by the City Council as required by the City Council.

resolution is necessary for the preservation of the public peace,
health, safety, and general welfare, an emergency is hereby declared
to exist and this resolution shall be in full force in effect from, and
after its passage, by the City Council as required by the City Council.
