A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE COMMON COUNCIL,
OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, PINAL COUNTY, ARIZONA
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF ARIZONA, ACTING
BY AND THROUGH THE STATE LIAISON OFFICER OF THE
ARIZONA OUTDOOR RECREATION COORDINATING COMMISSION,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction, Arizona has submitted an
application to the Arizona Outdoor Recreation Coordinating Commission
for a fiscal year 1979-1980 Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant; and
WHEREAS,the Arizona Outdoor Recreation Coordinating Commission
approved said application in the amount of $96,250.00, which is 50% of
the funds needed for three lighted tennis courts and two lighted ball
parks, and forwarded said application to Heritage Conservation and
Recreation Service for its approval; and
WHEREAS, said application will be acted upon in the near
future by the Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service which pro-
vides funds for said grant; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it to be in the best inter-
est of the City to provide the above -described recreation facilities
as a means of assistance and convenience for citizens and visitors of
Apache Junction; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of said application is to make available
certain recreation facilities desperately needed within the community;
and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the preservation, health and
safety of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona that an emergency be
declared to exist and the resolution be effective immediately upon
passage and adoption;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council
of the City of Apache Junction that the City Manager be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to enter into an Agreement with the State of
Arizona, acting by and through the State Liaison Officer of the Arizona
Outdoor Recreation Coordinating Commission, and that the City Manager be
and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute any and all documents
which may be necessary to implement said agreement;
FURTHER RESOLVED that an emergency is declared to exist and this
resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by threequarters of the City Council of
the City of Apache Junction this /47,75t day of December, 1979.
