A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF APACHE JUNCTION IN SUPPORT OF THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, AND AUTHORIZING (AND DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO SEEK ALL MEANS POSSIBLE TO DEVELOP SUCH A PLAN
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction is desirous of having
a Comprehensive Plan to guide present and future land use and other
decisions as to development; and
WHEREAS, future development decisions should include the
functional service area around the City of Apache Junction; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and the State can mutually benefit
from a Comprehensive Plan which encourages economic growth while
protecting individual values with regard to land; and
WHEREAS, the City is requesting that various agencies having
a mutual interest in a well planned City of Apache Junction participate
in the preparation and development of such a Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, preparing such a Comprehensive Plan is an approved
item for .the Goals and Objectives for the City Department of Planning;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION that the City Department of Planning be and it
is hereby charged with the responsibility for the development of a
Comprehensive Plan for the City of Apache Junction.
FURTHER, RESOLVED that the City Council does support the
concept of said Comprehensive Plan;
FURTHER, RESOLVED that the City Council requests the assist-
ance of the mutually benefited State, County, and Federal agencies in
developing a Comprehensive Plan and supports the concepts of a Compre-
hensive Plan for the functional service area; and
FURTHER, RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby
directed to seek all means possible to develop such plan including
entering into preliminary agreement subject to ratification by the City
Council; provided, however, that the Council reserves the right to
approve any funding arrangements beyond those already approved for
budget;
FURTHER, RESOLVED that the immediate operation of this
Resolution is necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health
and safety of the City of Apache Junction and an emergency is declared
to exist and this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, adoption or approval by the City Council of Apache
Junciton.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and the City Copcil of the
