A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CONSIDER THE FUTURE ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN AREAS CONTIGUOUS TO AND IN THE CITY'S ZONE OF INFLUENCE AND PROVIDING
NOTICE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction contains an area of approximately
twelve (12) square miles; and
WHEREAS, certain areas which lie outside the City limits are never-
theless contiguous to the City and are located within the City's zone of
influence; and
WHEREAS, good land use planning requires that different land uses
which are contiguous to each other be compatible with each other; and
WHEREAS, good land use planning will ultimately attract a good comm-
ercial and industrial tax base to serve the public interest and needs and
will insure the fiscal soundness of both the City and the Apache Junction
School District; and
WHEREAS, in the interest of good land use planning the City is pre-
paring a General Plan for the area within the City and for those areas
contiguous to and in the City's zone of influence.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, THAT:
1.The City of Apache Junction declares its intention to consider
the future annexation of those lands con:iguous to and in the
City's zone of influence.
2.Further, the City of Apache Junction requests its municipal
neighbors to refrain from annexing territory in Final County
contiguous to Apache Junction and in its zone of influence.
3.Further, the City Clerk is hereby instructed to provide notice
hereof by publishing and posting this resolution and by sending
certified copies to the Governor of the State of Arizona, the
Commissioner of the Arizona Land Department, the Arizona Director
of the Bureau of Land Management, the Central Arizona Association
of Governments, the Mayors of the cities of Mesa, Chandler, and
Gilbert, to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors, and to the
Base Commander of Williams Air Force Base.
