A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REQUESTING
THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO DELAY IMPLE-
MENTATION OF A CEASE AND DESIST ORDER AGAINST AN
INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITY FOR THE ELDERLY,AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS,an intermediate care facility for the elderly i s
operated within the City of Peoria;and
WHEREAS,the current statutes and regulations do not provide
for such a facility;and
WHEREAS,the Department of Health Services has caused a Cease
and Desist Order to be issued against the facility;and
WHEREAS,a legislative group i s considering proposing amend-
ments to the statutes i n order to provide for such facilities;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction that the Department of Health Services
be requested to extend the time of the Cease and Desist Order so that
the legislature might have the opportunity to address the problem prior
to the effective date of said Cease and Desist Order.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Council of the City
of Apache Junction,Pinal County,Arizona,this third day of
December ,1980.
