A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,PINAL COUNTY,ARIZONA,FINDING AND
DECLARING THAT SAID MAYOR AND SELECT COUNCIL DEEM THAT
FOUR-YEAR STAGGERED TERMS FOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION AND ORDERING THAT THERE SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE
VOTERS OF SAID CITY,THE QUESTION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT
STAGGERED TERMS FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL SHALL
BE ADOPTED IN THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION;PROVIDING FOR THE
GIVING OF NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION AND THAT ALL QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF SAID CITY SHALL BE ENTITLED AND QUALIFIED TO VOTE
AT SAID ELECTION.
BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF APACHE
JUNCTION,PINAL COUNTY,STATE OF ARIZONA:
Section 1
That the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction
deem that the establishment of staggered terms for the members of the City
Council,i n the manner described i n A.R.S.9-232.02,would be beneficial to
the citizens of the City of Apache Junction.
Section 2
That the questions of four-year staggered terms i s hereby ordered to
be put upon the ballot at the City election to be held on the 24th day of March,
1981,for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the qualified electors of the
municipality the question as to whether or not the City Council shall have four-
year staggered terms for its members.
Section 3
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCILMEN elected,conditioned
on a favorable vote upon the question at the City election,on the 24th day
of March,1981,shall be divided by lot into classes.The first class shall
consist of three (3) Councilmen.Those i n the first class shall hold office
until the next regular election i n 1983.Those i n the second class shall
hold office until the regular election to be held i n 1985.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this seventh day of January ,1981.

ENTENDIENDO Y DECLARANDO QUE DICHA ALCALDE Y CONCEJALES
SELECTOS JUZCAN QUE LOS PLAZOS ESCALONADOS DE CUATRO ANOS
PARA LOS MIEMBROS DEL CONCEJO MUNICIPAL BENEFICIARIAN
LOS CIUDADANOS DE APACHE JUNCTION Y PIDIENDO QUE DEBERA ,
DE SER SOMETIDO A LOS VOTANTES DE DICHA CIUDAD LA DECISION
DE ADOPTAR 0 NO LOS PLAZOS ESCALONADOS PARA LOS MIEMBROS
DEL CONCEJO MUNICIPAL DE LA CIUDAD DE APACHE JUNCTION;CON
TAL DE QUE LA CONVOCATORIA GENERAL DE TALES ELECCIONES SEA
PUBLICADA Y QUE TODOS LOS VOTANTES CALIFICADOS DE DICHA
CIUDAD TENGAN EL DERECHO DE VOTAR EN DICHAS ELECCIONES.
POR TANTO HA SIDO DISPUESTO Y ORDENADO POR LA ALCALDE Y EL CONCEJO
MUNICIPAL DE APACHE JUNCTION,CONDADO DE PINAL,ESTADO DE ARIZONA:
SecciOn 1
Que l a Alcalde y el Concejo Municipal de l a Ciudad de Apache Junction
juzcan que el establecimiento de plazos escalonados -para los miembros del
Concejo Municipal,como descrito en A.R.S.9-232.02,beneficiaria a los
ciudadanos de Apache Junction.
Seccidn 2
Que l a cuestiOn sobre los plazos escalonados de cuatro aiios sea,
imprimido en las boletas para las elecciones municipales que se cel9braran
el d -ra 24 de marzo de 1981,con el propOsito de ,someter a l a votacion de
los votantes calificados de la ciudad la decision de adoptar o no los plazos
escalonados de cuatro anos para los miembros del Concejo Municipal.
SecciOn 3
POR TANTO HA SIDO DISPUESTO TAMBIEN QUE LOS CONCEJALES que sean
elegidos,a condicidn de que la cuestiOn d9cidida en las elecciones municipales
del 24 de marzo de 1981 sea favorable,seran divididos en grupos por echar
suertes.El primer grupo consistira de cuatro (4)Concejales.Aquellos del
primer,grupo consistira de cuatro (4)Concejales.Aquellos del primer grupo
ocuparan su cargo hasta las prOximas elecciones regulares en 1983.Aquellos
del segun,do grupo ocuparan su cargo hasta las elecciones regulares que se
celebraran en 1985.
